make sure the coolant temp sensor is plugged in on the bottom of the radiator. most common problem...
i used the walboro 255 pump for 5 years with the stock regulator on my 5sfte.
you should be fine....
i was on my way to work and was making a hard pull in 2nd gear when i got to about 5-6K rpm there was a really loud bang like 2 shot guns went off one...
