very nice! got more pics of the booth and paint gun?
I dont have any more pics of the booth, but if you're interested I can list the materials used to build it. The two guns I have are quantum qul guns. They both have different sized apertures. One is for primer and the other is for base and clear. I can snap a shot of them next chance I get.
Nice work Ben!! doin an awesome job, in the bodywork pics, you look like you belong in Slipknot...lol cant wait to see whats next.....Hood looks awesome, nice prep work... thumbsup.gif
Thanks Josh! Looks like your car is running nice as well!
Just scored about 5 feet of 3inch stainless pipe from the scrap yard for 16 bucks! 3" stainless exhaust here we come!
Just got the motor back today. So far I've painted the block, and assembled the pistons and rods. More to come as the night progresses. Hoping to have the rotating assembly complete tonight.

Look at that cross hatch!

Line hone.

Primed.

Painted. The color is much nicer in person. Looks dark in this picture. Did this so I could detect leaks quickly.

Pay attention here. The larger reliefs are for the intake side, and the smaller for the exhaust.

Wrist pin locks are in, and fully assembled. If your thumb isn't numb then you haven't done something right!

Note the direction of the tangs. The tangs sit just below the exhaust reliefs on the tops of the pistons. Don't do this backwards! You may spin a rod bearing.

Cheers!
Looking good Ben!

Loving the base paint for the block; subtle yet practical.

Has no more Celicas
Got the pistons, rods, and head on...

Will try to post more pics as I get to it, but I was able to finish my paint and conversion this weekend. Check it out!

Very nice, cant wait til I get on the 3sgte band wagon as well.

Haha thanks guys! Yea it really is rattle canned. I got the paint from autozone. It's a high temp grey metallic, and grey high temp primer for the base. Think it cost me around 12 bucks for everything.

Forgot to mention. 3m has this new painters tape called "edge lock" (i think this is right) It's pretty expensive, but really does hold a nice edge to keep paint out of the important spots.
DON'T BE LIKE ME!

I did this to my brand new oil pump yesterday (yes it was my fault)

What you are looking at is the bolt hole that holds the idler pulley on the oil pump housing. That grommet that is pressed in that my finger is pointing out came out of my old oil pump. The st205 motor that I sourced is a 94' model year, and I noticed this grommet in my old pump, so I pried it out and tried to press it into the new oil pump, which yielded that crack. I spoke with Aaron from Lithia Toyota, and had him look into this for me. Apparently there was an EPC that was released, which deletes this grommet in 95'. So now i'm faced with a 148$ oops for the oil pump assembly, and more (for all the gaskets, which were brand new that I cannot reuse.)

As embarrassed as I am, I felt it necessary to share this with all of you so that you don't end up like me.

I hope this helps someone in the long run.

Cheers!
**** man, if i could count all the oops's Ive done...
