The seals i replaced, (brand new two months ago) one had a small tear and the other a crack... They are leaking right where the axle slides through them.. i was very gentle this time... but oh well.

PS: i just got in the car and had it idling while i removed the gauge cluster to do some blue led's and the tranny is making noises.. like metal touching metal noises. faint, but definatly there.. on and off etc. nothing terrible but its still an issue.. so the speedo gear is shot ( i think) the seals blow and the tranny makes noises and doesn't like to shift smooth.... new tranny time?

You might not be up to that point... for now. Use the beater car and find out what's going on with it before actually leaving a trail of oil on the highway and on the tow truck. A moaning tranny is a sick, possibly dying, tranny. Believe me, I know... frown.gif

One o'dem crazy Canadian freaks, eh?
Update

-Sunpro metric adapters arrived so i could finally hook up the oil pressure gauge.
-put the leather seats back in the car and removed the cloth ones.
-installed a new thermostat, now the car sits right around 180-190 while driving.. before it wouldn't get over 145.....
-added a quart to the leaking tranny...

thats about it.. i have some nice pics ill toss up in a bit
So all of these pics are my drive home from school in the morning and then one on the drive back to school at night.

Anyone from around boston will recognize some of this area.

can you make a vid of those prosports in action? are they easy to see during the day? anything you dont like about them?

ive been thinking about buying those gauges for a while now, but i really cant make up my mind. ive seen some pics where the blue ones didnt look that great during the day, but i like how they look in your pics.

I love them at night. During the day......... Its tough to see them. I'm not gonna lie they can be difficult to read. If the sun is bright they aren't the easiest things to see. If i had to do it all over again i would still buy them though. If you wear sunglasses they are inpossible to read. In those pics above^ they are on in all of the pics... in one pic i am about to go into the tunnel and then the next pic im in a tunnel and the third pic i just left the tunnel, you will notice how they look like they are not turned on while im outside... for the price though... it might be worth buying one to check out if its worth buying more. heck i got 6 gauges for 300 including the 90$ ext temp gauge.

I'll try to get you a vid if i get a chance this weekend

Wait till i get the HID's biggrin.gif butttt those pics ^do the car too much justice lol, in person its still in ok.. shape. as you have seen. but anywho new tranny soon! and HID's hopefully will help out driveability and looks.

I have to roll the rear fenders a bit more, i still rub a little bit, i didn't foll them where the mudgaurds start, and i hit right there in tight corners or with passengers in the back.

There are a couple of really good spots on base where we should all get our cars together and take pics, like yours mine dustins and manny if he wants to drive lol. There is a crazy looking peir near the air craft carriers that would make a good shot with all four cars at sunset or something biggrin.gif

UPDATE:

I am so frustrated with the car right now... A wiring issue i am having is causing the alt not to charge (see my thread in engine/mat)

Its such a pain in the but for me to get home from school to try and fix this... my school is two hours away and its a military prep school so its almost impossible for me to get the whole weekend off to just come home and work on the car... It used to be at school with me until the issues happened and I had to leave it at home since i couldn't make the drive with it...

I really don't know when i can even work on it again... and come July 2nd i won't have the car on the road for 3 years.............................. so i really want to be driving it as much as possible until then..

its just so depressing knowing i can't drive it soon and it won't even work when i can... especially after all the $$$$$ and time ive put into this thing...

venting.........
That sucks Jesse, but all I can say is be patient with it. Other than that I hope you get everything figured out and everything works out for ya.
i can be patient, but patience takes timee which is very very very limited for me right now and time will not exist for the celi come july...
Amazing car dude....good luck wit everything..i love the 2 pod gauge cluster in the shifter...i saw that somwhere befor n i was thinkin about gettin it for my car...them gauges in all blue...well the whole interior in all blue looks sick...i want to do the exact same thing....good luck wioth it though man awesome job!!

Here is whats up,

-tranny swap
-vac leaks
-crazy wiring issue (short or something)

Those are the first steps..

while i'm at it:

-engine bay clean-up
-wire tuck etc.
-more?

gimme some words of encouragement! i'm gonna need them if i want this car ready for the meet in NJ on the 9th and 10th!

You can do it dude. Just get the issues taken care of. Then worry about cleaning it up.

I'd love to see another 3s make it to the meet.

thumbsup.gif

I will return one day.
the lift at my buddies house has a lincoln sitting on it with no front suspension... so it will be atleast a day or two until i can work on her and swap the tranny...

in the mean time ill look for the electrical problems... wish me luck..

ps: I forgot how fast the 3s is! smile.gif

Ive been driving my moms nissan sentra....(old and slow) so getting back in the 3s for the first time in a few months was sooo nice!

Sorry for OT, but Lagos you can see it e.g. here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5n4NAvlzXA...ted&search=
There are some vids on youtube, try looking around.

It seems the gauges when switched on have a few backlight modes. The bright white one seems to be the one with your lights on. Looks best IMO.

^ I do not have mine wired up to the "dimmer" option, so they may work different when i wire that in..

nice! ... i saw them on my buddies car too. they seem to be an awesome bang for the buck. especially the peakhold/warning gauges.

Jesse,

I've been reading this thread on and off all afternoon (inbetween working of course) and I'm amazed at how much you've achieved with that car of yours. You obviously know your stuff whereas I on the other hand can't even find out why my engine cooling fan ain't working!

Keep up the good work, you're an inspiration to us all!

After reading Coomer's incredible engine bay renovation thread I was instantly inspired... since.... my engine bay looks awful..

here are some shots....

what would you suggest first? (i don't have as much time, so these things need to be simple and cheap.. lol)

Its obvious that i need to:

mount that rubber piece along the top of the hood
clean up the wiring for the gauge senders..... yea i know its ugly
paint the windshield wipers!

PS: FMIC going in this week (knock on wood)
do you have the piping and couplers for the IC ?

my st205 swapandour Beams swap
i have the piping but no couplers yet...
and no BOV

its made out of the neck of an engine coolant res that i had from my parts car laugh.gif

anywho, ill paint it black and see how it works.. the neck fits perfectly snug with the grommet on the coolant res
