Man, pods and Gauge look awesome!! you can sand the shifter trim and paint it silver or what ever color you want to match your interior btw wink.gif

Thank you Romas!!!!!

Yea i love the pod's and guages, but the prosports are hard to read during the day. otherwise they are amazing. I think i like the shift boot pod the best smile.gif

I was going to paint it silver, but didn't want to paint over your work quite yet biggrin.gif
Awesome job. The interior looks great.

I will return one day.
Awesome work! One of my favorite interiors on this site!

How bad are they? Can you still read it? I'm planning on buying them... Been eye-ing them for a while now.
Well I love them, but really they can be tough to see during the day if the sun is in the wrong spot. I would still buy them though if i were to do it again, but i do a lot more driving at night due to my current situation. Also im going to get my windows tinted soon and im hoping that might help a bit. And if need be im going to attempt to toss a brighter led into one of them.

for the price you can't beat them and i love the look.

maybe just buy one for now and see how it is and if its not going to work out, you only spent 40$
Just drove the car, its kinda overcast with no bright sun and i could read the guages fine, its really only bad when the sun is at the wrong angle and real bright. like i said im going to tint soon and see how that works out. I'm going to put that 6 inch tint strip on the top of the windshield to see if that will help
Looks sweet, congrats on finishing up the swap!

Thanks biggrin.gif I've always loved your car, how much did it set you back to get the headliner in suede?
Ok so I drive back to base, and I stop at the ATM real quick.. on the way there though i notice the battery warning light pops up.. I smell a small hint of something burnt.. rubber maybe? so when i get to the ATM i pop the hood and to my amazement my alternator is on fire...

Just a small 4 inch flame... the rubber cap that covers the power lead was on fire... and after i blew it out i touched the power lead and the wire (as thick as a pen) broke in half without me touching it very forcefully at all......

So my hypothesis is.. i need a new alternator! biggrin.gif

Thankfully Dustin and Steff are around and are coming with another alternator woot.gif

EDIT: I ALSO NEED TO BUY A FIRE EXTINGUISHER! (not going to risk anything again)

Thank god you caught it in time!! Could have been a completely different story altogether if you hadn't stopped earlier.

yea I got lucky, I'm glad it wasn't worse rolleyes.gif

Anywho, Dustin swung by and with his help and Steff's we got a 5s alternator on there and we are going to finish wiring it this morning since its a different plug. Can't thank them enough biggrin.gif

PS: anyone who is thinking of getting HID's should do it, after seeing Dustin's car made me want them soooo bad. we compared the stock crap headlights to his HID's and it was no comparison at all. THEY ARE AMAZING!

wow that sucks man. glad you caught it before it got any worse.
walmat sells a nice 24$ fire extinguisher, it was my FIRST investment before i turboed...hehe now that i think about it, it may almost be time to replace mine! haha
after seeing that old vid that D posted of the VW burning to a crisp to the song "Say it aint so" by weezer, i went right out and bought a REAL one, not one of the "cool looking" APC stainless ones that bolts to the apillar..lmao

January 15th UPDATE

Yesterday I basically fixed some problems.

-Replaced wiring harness for alternator
-Put in a couple thicker, custom grounds
-Removed AC lines and Condensor

Thats all, didn't have much time to work on it

VERY Near Future:
-Tien S-techs
-KYB GR2's
-Blue LED interior to match the prosports

Somewhat near future:
-EBC
-3in Exhaust
-FMIC/GReddy BOV
-EBC Pads
-HID's biggrin.gif

Thanks Dustin, Manny and Steff for your advice and help tongue.gif I would still be stranded if it were not for you woot.gif
the same thing happened to me twice! the wire that connects to the alt power stud rotted off from the heat from some sort of current draw i guess. i had to cut my wiring harness back a good 8 inches and solder on some fat 4guage wire and put a larger stud on the alt with all brass claps. seems to be fine since then. it sucked i was far from home and the system wouldn't charge so i drove home at midnight with no headlights just running lights and had to stop every couple miles to hold a screw driver on the battery and the wire on the screwdriver to make a connection to charge it. sparks and heat it wasn't a fun drive home.

Ouch, its good that you are handy enough to find a way to get home biggrin.gif

I just took the wiring from my parts car and spliced it in. I have no clue why it did that the first time. I replaced the alt and it seems fine now, not heating up like it did before tongue.gif
HOLY Crap Jesse I had no Idea she was running. Dude you going to anymore track meets this year?? Congrats on finally finishing her man. I know youve been really excited.

UPDATE JAN27th

About it..
here is a before and after of the drop

She handles sooooo much better now, especially in the turns. I can use a lot more of the power i have now since the suspension isn't shot and its lower... I am really in shock at how much this single thing helped the feel of the car. this with the 8in wide tires and i have a good amount of traction (of course it can always be better)

EDIT:
Pictures don't do it justice^^^^
Man she looks awesome dude. Awesome job.
So i just ordered a couple more parts smile.gif

HID's 9006 @ 8k

and all of the led's i need to make my clock, cluster, cc and keyring blue.

so when all that arrives the int will get finished (all the blue to match the prosports)

This weekend looks like i am going to seafoam the beast and possibly try to flush the coolant to see what is going on with the oil in the system...

oh yes, and of course i get to do 2 axle seals AGAIN.....
hey jcbass7

whered did you get all the leds from...most of my lights in my car are dead and i wanna change them all and have no clue where to get bright ones
superillumination.com < i think that is right

I got 194's for the cluster
and 74's for the key ring and turn signals biggrin.gif
UPDATE!

>>HUGE MODS!! OH SNAP!!>>

-Changed the clock to blue
-Snipped the green so the clock won't dim smile.gif

on a more serious note..
-replaced both axle seals again..... anddd they still leak... really annoyed right now.

^Spent all day doing that^ and I have no clue why they still leak. Its getting real old. Ive done 5 axle seals total in the past 6 months. On the bright side I'm getting damn good at it... but apparently not if they still leak........

Buy new Ones!! thats my only answer for you. ex. If a CV shaft needed a new boot, i replace the whole shaft bc eventually its going to go anyways. Keep up the nice work

I think the CV's are fine, its the small 5$ seals at the differential gear that are leaking.. I'm not sure if i'm missing a dust cover or something? but when i put new ones in, and then drove around the block, sure enough the new ones leaked too.. I think the speedo gear part is dead, but im not sure if this would effect the seals in at the differential.

thanks for reminding me to pick up a couple new seals from the dealer.
not sure on why they are leaking really. if you used new seals that should have solved it unless they arent seated right or moved when you put the axels in.
