Whatever sells cars like candy bars. There is so much BS rolling around this car that i dont care anymore. New concept pics???? are they trying to sell a car before its even made??
until i see one on the sales lot, i wont be convinced... Sorry, but thats all automakers want, hate to see a lot of disappointment when it comes out as a crappy sports car with an economy engine badged toyota or scion.

The scion Tc is one ugly piece of sh*t and and ugly copy of the 7gc interior.
What I think when you think I care
Yea the scion leaves me wishing it was something more...i mean, havent they realized that people want a sports car that can compete with the likes of the EVO x, and just about any 2005+ wrx? Not some wannabe cross btwn a Cube and 7th gen celica..

IMO, the Tc's a pretty good looking car (excluding the new version). If you think the interior of a 7gc is great, think again. I had a 2000 gt-s and it had the cheapest sh*t interior I've ever seen. Just about as bad as the Tc's cheap plastic interior. I'm more impressed with my rusty 91 corolla's interior

Kill me but I really liked the FUSE. I remember reading about it when it first came out and was hoping it would go into production. It would be nice to haul things around in it.
It looks to me like the FUSE actually
did make it into production, in a slightly different form.

It just got watered down and more practical... just as I expect the FT-86 to do.

Refuse to believe it! Toyota has enough interest in this model it time to give the people what they want!

Oh btw, That car in the pic is an original ST185 Carlos Sainz, Toyotoshi (local toyota dealer) had it parked for 10 years, I heard all they did was work on the suspension and engine was pretty much stock they might have tuned something.
On the topic note...I don't understand why they just dont take the family out of the Caldina gt four, take out the pair of doors slap on a limited edition garret turbo on it force yamaha to make a vvtl-i head and a 8500 rpm limit...aerodynamic the ***&!@$ out of it make a regular aspirated celica version and GO GO GO!
^THIS. but like many have already said... its nothing but flying BULL unless they commit, produce, and SELL.

Some exciting FT-86 news (if true) today. According to Motor Trend, as part an overall plan to more closely converge Toyotas products with Subaru, the upcoming FT-86 will be powered by the 305hp / 290 lb-ft Subaru STI 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine, rather than the less powerful Subaru engine originally planned for the FT-86.

Now just rename it to Celica give it subaru AWD and call it the CELICA GT-FOUR needs the timing belt cooler hood vent w2a wat injection superstruts for the TYPE A version

and you got a new rally car that takes names and kicks ass
What I think when you think I care
Captain pessimist is back. Well young pumpkins... Geneva auto show is right around the corner so we shall see what toyota brings.
Latest rumors.
There has been a very feint rumor of toyota returning to rally racing (although not wrc but its feeder division) with something like a yaris.
My pessimistic comments start here:
It looks like toyota is listening to some feedback. The sheer fact that there is a concept 2 is mind boggling. All you have to do is google ft-86 and you will find a ton of anti-scion rants, anti-wimpy car rants etc etc... so there may be a slight chance of something good coming out of this.
Definition of good is of course a broad term. I think toyota is doing more of a catch up than anything. If they are indeed listening to feedback then I am sure they see pages and pages of same complaints. Keep it affordable. Keep it fast as hell and dont make it a scion.
It would be hard for toyota to not make it a scion considering for about a year they have admitted it on several occasions that scion is a recipient for ft-86. Outside of that I do not see them calling it anything but a scion because there have been no rumors out there (each rumor is based on some truth). Affordability is another huge concern. It looks as if majority of toyota cars are over 15000 and none of them are sporty. If they decide to go the sport route they will be forced to price their next sport car same way subaru and mitsubishi price their sport cars. Reeeeeeally expensive and insurance will be through the roof. Anything otherwise will just be a sport car wannabe.
So here is what we should be looking forward to at Geneva Autoshow. We need a workable pre-sale model with no shenanigans. None of that spaceship abstract monkey poodle interior. None of those "ohh hey this is just a concept" shenanigans.
Time will tell.

Captain Pessimist
hehe, nice writeup yarik

but im hardly convinced that "each rumor is based on some truth".. imho the subaru coupe actually was a rumor, but it spread so fast that subaru had to create an rwd coupe concept. i think the subaru concept would stay as a concept unless the world/media brings really make it SOUND big and worth the efforts and then they would have to really develop an rwd car. still it shouldnt be sooner than 2 years after toyota release.

I stand pretty firm by my statement. Every rumor is based on some truth. Crafty journalists (especially in automotive world) get paid hefty sums of money by magazines who want to print/publish sneak previews or first ever photos before any one else does. Some photos sell for as high as 100,000 per. While journalists can make mistakes.. when stakes are so high they do their work very thoroughly.
I cant seem to find schedule for the auto show but I will wait patiently and then unleash a wave of pessimismismismismism

Hmm...not sure if I like this more than the original, although the rear seems more composed! The direction of styling is definitely spot-on though, it's good to see some aggressiveness with a Toyota badge once again.

The fusion of the 7th gen's high-arc flared rear with the 6th gen's overall body styling in an updated design language.
So, why isn't this being called a Celica?
I'm not so fond of the lower front grille or the ridiculous Pontiac Grand Am spoiler but everything else is damn spot on.
I'd like it in red please...or Subaru blue.
