Are those sidemarkers the stock one's + tint/smoked, or clears ones + tint/smoke? Great progress by the way, can't wait to see it when it's finished! I'm in Dayton, maybe we'll have to meet up sometime.

Actually they're smoked from the start, it's how I bought them. So no tinting film or anything smile.gif.

I really love them. The blinkers especially have a very deep reflectant look to them that made them simply gorgeous.

Actually I'm in Dayton all the time. I have a lot of friends out there. I'll be there this weekend to get help with installing rotors and brakes. If you ever want to meet up with us we could have a fun time with two white celicas haha.

If you have anything that needs fixed, while I'm in no way a proffessional...just learning everyhing myself...i could help in any way I could.

Hasmat:

Thanks that's a huge compliment! I'm glad you like where I'm taking the car. It's sporty but classy and I think it's come a long long way. smile.gif
Do you have a link to where you bought them (sidemarkers) from?

The rotors and brakes will be very easy for you if you have any mechanical experience whatsoever. I'll extend the offer back to you as well, if you ever need a hand, let me know. A friend and I that's also on here have worked on these cars for a while so we're very familiar with most of the stuff.

BTW, I really need to update my profile as I've sold my white celica and bought a newer (98) silver one that is mostly stock. As I type this I'm in between putting clear coats on my tails, I redded the orange/amber part on them earlier today. If you aren't planning on going with JDM tails, you can have the supplies I used to do this. I still have plenty left over!

Awesome, we'll all have to meet some time. Feel free to PM me pics of your Celica, can't wait to see it.

I'm not doing the JDM route (I don't like the look honestly and I certainly won't spend that much money on them lol) but I actually quite like the amber and red look of the lights, so I think I'll keep them as is. But thanks for the offer!

That's good to hear about the rotors and brakes. Hopefully we'll be able to crank that out fast. After that we fix the oil leak by getting a new oil pan gasket and then hopefully, the headers. I have never installed these before. I have a rough idea on what to do, so we'll see how it goes. Again, once those are in, I'll take a picture of the engine bay smile.gif.

How many miles are on your Celica and how is the condition? Are you planning on keeping it stock or are you going to upgrade it eventually? Almost hate to ask, but why did you sell the white one?
Not a big job by any means, but I finally found a fix to a minor problem of mine. As super high quality as the VIS hood is, and despite how well it fits (as if it's OEM) the one thing that hadn't turned out like expected were the windshield wiper nozzles not fitting into the hood. The shape was correct, but the hole wasn't anywhere near large enough for the nubs to fit through.

As many of you guys know, finding replacement nozzles WITHOUT ricey led lights embedded in them is extremely hard. When you do find them, they're usually made for a specific model car, OEM or not.

I found these after a lot of searching, and they fit the car perfectly, and look very similar to the ones that were on the Celica originally. The existing hose was much too long for this setup, and I ended up shorting it on one end and extending it with a hose extender on the other. It works very well, and is nice and taught enough that I don't need to glue it down or hold it up with clips. I'm extremely pleased with how it looks. Again, I'll take a picture of the engine area once everything is installed hopefully this Saturday, but here's a pic of the outside for now wink.gif.

Good to see you got the windshield washer nozzles in! You're making some really quick progress with this car.

Here's a tip I got for the headers: Odds are your bolts holing your existing manifold on will be rusted all to crap. They'll be a pain to get out without breaking them or rounding the heads, no matter how much WD40 or PB Blaster you use. But one guy told me something, and I tried it, and it worked beautifully. Start your car, let your motor warm up for about 5 minutes. Shut it off and then try to remove the bolts again. They'll come out as smooth as the day they went in. I don't know if this is a case by case thing that just happened to work out well when I tried it or if it's universal and will always work, but it's worth a shot.

I'll have to try that on the headers, thanks for the tip. Also, thanks for the compliment on the nozzles.

Good news, while I couldn't do the headers today, I was able to go ahead and put the rotors and brake pads on. The drilled rotors look AMAZING against the new wheels. I'll take the pictures tomorrow biggrin.gif and post them.
Car looks great. What's wrong with your current 2-post?

I was driving to Dayton today to my friends house to do the rotors and pads, and as I'm driving, I hear a giant "SNAP" and the "fixed" spoiler Maaco repaired, cracked in the same crack that was existing when I first turned it in.

Sad that I did all my own bodywork BUT the spoiler, entrusting it in someone else and all they did was put a bead of fiberglass in the HUGE crack to fix it. I guess he thought the spoiler was just for show, but unfortunately for him (and me) the spoiler is there for a reason and wind did a number on his horrible job.

Just goes to show you, if you go to Maaco, only get paint done. Do everything yourself. rolleyes.gif

At least I found a good one. If the paint isn't good, I'll get it resprayed (something they can actually do!) and be back to were I was this morning before my spoiler cracked like a twig.

Thanks bud. I'll have more pics tomorrow of the rotors and more soon once my repairs are done to the spoiler.
Here are the wheels (slightly dirty from new brake pad brake dust) and my new rotors! They're beautiful biggrin.gif

Ah man sorry to hear about the spoiler. But seeing how fast you're going with all this you can recover in no time! btw sexy rims. biggrin.gif

Thanks about the rims, I like them too smile.gif.

Yea, it'll be fixed in no time. I have a dead line of next month for this ALL to be done, so I'm rushing through this asap. Plus I'm impatient, so I do this with everything I make. laugh.gif

Awesome, I'd really appreciate that whenever you get a chance. I have some headers to install that I need help on and eventually (hopefully, if the guy contacts me again) some new seats. If you have some stuff to work on as well, I'd also be more than happy to help. I travel all around the state for a volunteer group I'm in anyway.

Absolutely jack now lol. The guy who was trading me the seats for my parts bailed on it without letting me know. I have some white and black seat covers I could use I guess. We'll have to see. I'd honestly like something a bit nicer that what I have currently. To be honest, I'd just be happy if the seats I had could be fixed. I have a couple ripped seams on the side showing insulation, but other than that they are quite nice.

We'll see. Money is getting a bit tight atm, so I think I'll be waiting on getting anything more elaborate as for as seating goes.
^ Vincent's seat covers are the answer. $250 for all four seats.

Kinda hard to dremel a hole that has paint on it. The last thing I want to do is start chipping on the paint and then worry about it spreading, ya know? Besides, these ones look almost identical to the OEM ones and make mounting to the underside significantly easier.
Just an update:

Spoiler will be here Tuesday.

This week the spoiler blocks and spoiler will be resprayed/sprayed. The spoiler blocks had some paint issues that they're fixing for free.

Next weekend, the decals go on everything except for the large "CASTROL" logo on the spoiler, since.. obviously..that part will still need to cure.

Hopefully the weekend after that, the headers and new stereo/speakers will be installed with some much needed help from Aerl.

Pictures will come with each step smile.gif. Basically, this will be fully ready the first week of December when the final decal is put on the spoiler.
There cant be many Castrol Celicas in the US....will certainly stand out from the crowd.

Third time's the charm? Just got the third one in today...

At least I'm hoping..sigh. First one had a crack down the underside in the center. The second was the replacement that had the mounting notches that the spoiler blocks go into filled in with bondo. Then the first was "repaired" only to crack again. Now the third (and by far the dirtiest, but hey! no cracks!).

Both the new spoiler and the old spoiler blocks will be taken into the shop tomorrow to be painted white. If you guys don't remember, the blocks weren't painted all the way in the back and were rough. They are fixing those for free, though he's not spraying the spoiler for free even though it was their repair job that failed me. rolleyes.gif

Can't wait for Saturday. The car will look like a Castrol car then.

I also have a new surprise. I got red, rally mudflaps for the car! And they're even that much more amazing as they were specifically made for the Celica, and will have the Celica (90's style) logo in white on the back of each one. It's the little touches that count, right? wink.gif It's going to seriously look amazing. Can't wait to show it off. After that, it's headers and stereo/speakers. I'll have pictures this weekend of the decals though.

eBay. However, I think I got the last one he had.. could be mistaken though smile.gif.

Btw, speaking of which, the back emblem is now on the car as the replacement came in last week. I'll take a picture of that when the decals are on.

EDIT: More good news. Maaco said they'd paint the new spoiler for $35, the parts of prep materials, since they messed up on the last smile.gif. My day just got 2000% better tongue.gif

There was actually a white 2 post spoiler for sale on Ebay with the Castrol decal already on it not too long ago. Lol. Sounds like you're getting a steal from Maaco.

Yea, I saw those.. but the spoilers were heavily damaged (paint wise). I think Maaco feels like they gypped me on the repair job (...well, they did) and that's the only reason why they're doing this for me.

The spoiler and blocks will be done soon biggrin.gif
i cant wait to see this with all the decals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hurrrryyyyyyyyyy. biggrin.gif
