to me... the mgs series has always felt like a movie where i have control over the main character. so the cutscenes can be pretty lengthy but are necessary for the story. plus they're not all talk and really awesome to watch. i don't know the actual lengths of each of the cutscenes, but i think i remember reading in a review that the longest one is like 30 mins? i don't know if i've seen that one yet cuz that last thing i look at is the clock when i'm playing this game. next thing i know, half the day has gone by.

i finished mgs4. awesome game. the final boss fight with liquid was pretty freakin sweet. and the boss fight with vamp was fun too. i wasted so much ammo and health before i figured out how to kill him. and the boss fight with screaming mantis was a lot like fighting psycho mantis from mgs1... except no controller port to switch and what-not so you also have to think about that fight. now i just gotta play it a hundred more times before i get tired of it. and not to mention online. definitely the game the ps3 was made for.

I'm not getting MGS yet though, i'm waiting till i have enough time to play it through.

Next up for me is the Olympics game

edit: this is such crap!! sony took update 2.4 down, apparently because some idiots don't know how to let the installer finish, it's turning their machines into paperweights, so sony is "fixing" it.

I really get tired of the idiots on the PS forums, they all seem fully retarded and all they do is complain. They demand in-game xmb for a year, then when it comes, all they do is complain about it before they've even used it!!!

Not sure what the deal is with the trophies thing, apparently most released games can be patched to work with them.... not many yet though.

I installed it fine yesterday and then used the machine for hours, no problems. in-game xmb works with everything i tried, all seems good to me

so apparently there isn't trophy support, or voice chat (for madden or ncaa for that matter), so i sold mine and picked it up for 360, which obviously has achievements... sad because it would only take sony like half a day to program them in a patch (they said that, not me).

I have Socom. It's a bit different than the PS2 versions because /6 did it now instead of Zipper. Honestly I like it less, but it's not necessarily a bad game. Shooting is harder, recoil really screws up your shots.

The game launch was a mess. I got it last Wed. and didn't get to play til Friday because of the massive server overload. They did a temporary server fix and it's sorta working now. But I'd wait to get it.

I just got it yesterday. I like it a lot and the play seems to be fairly decent. I just wish more of my friends had a PS3 to play it. The recoil is fine if you ask me, Just gotta roll it up from the chest a bit.

Do the servers jump a little bit every once in a while for you? Im wondering if its my net or just the servers

Yeah I'm learning the recoil. The game is more realistic based than the other socoms. You can't go and jump around and move back and forth to dodge bullets.

The servers do lag a bit, there will be a bit of jumpiness. They are working a lot better than they did a week ago but I still get freeze ups that cause me to restart my machine. The fact that I can't go and join my clan members games is VERY annoying. Unless I just don't know how but the obvious thing would be to just go to their name and click join game.

Quick swapping guns & grenades sucks. I have to re-do it often and I am just not a fan of the way that's setup. But the game is def. fun, it's grown on me a lot.
