Lets cut the bs and handle this once and for all! challenge - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #33637 63 posts Started by madmods
None of us really know do we???? We keep hearing< "i heard they fit" There are thousands of totaled 7th gens in the junkyard. Somebody go pull off one rotor and one caliper. If the caliper has a mounting bracket, pull that off too. Why hasn't anybody done this? I cant find a 7th gen-thats my excuse. Somebody do this please. Lets solve this once and for all. We all benefit.

i'll take my nuckle up to the shop next week if you can wait and see what i can do
im with madmods, no 7th gens at the local junkyard aside from nix99 which is the kind of expensive place insurance companies go to.

94' ST Coupe - 5sfe Motor swap and brake swap.
i cant find any 7th gens near me= /

I can't find any totaled ones here either. I think the front will fit but the back wont because of there emergancy break. Its different then our 6 gens emergancy break. But someone needs to do it and let us know.
awesome you guys are jumping on it, I will keep looking. I'll also look for a set of used oem calipers and disks on ebay. I can always re-sell them. Dan, hope you come thru!!!!!
Did anyone ever comfirm that the 7gen front brakes fit the front of the 6gen??? I have been searching for 2 hours and I still got nothing...
I'm game to try it, how much could the yard really charge for the rotor and caliper..?
About 250$ bucks if you buy everything new (including brembo drilld rotors) off Ebay
I have a 6gc and a 7gc in my driveway =]
i dont want to put a dampen on things but i seriously doubt that they will fit. My boy had some Number one crossed drilled rotors, and they accidentally shipped them out for a 6th gen, the car he was trying to put them on was a 7th gen. He said the did not fit correctly. I may be wrong but wouldnt ours fit on the 7th gen if theirs could fit on ours?

Do you have time to try the swap on one front wheel??? If so take some pics because if this mod works it should defnatly go down in 6gc list of mods history... thumbsup.gif
my neighbor has two 7th gens, but i doubt he'll let me take it apart to see if they work on my 6th gen...
but otherwise, i'd be down for trying the front and rear. it should only take about an hour or less.

btw, how much bigger are the 7th gen rotors? and how many pistons do the calipers have?

I know the 7th gen GTs have drum brakes but are the GT and GT-S front claipers different ? like the 6gen ST and GT brakes...

What's the point? Is this for the ST guys or what?
I've worked on many GT and GTS 7th Gens and their brakes are nothing special. I never checked but if their rotors are bigger it's not by much.
I just don't see the point except for a source for ST guys to get better brakes.
Then you don't see much....

7th gen has big brake kits wink.gif

its all about thinking beyond and outta the box

Yes. the 7th gens have big break kits. If the 7th gen breaks fit then the big break kits for the 7th gen fit on the 6th gen. Thats what everyone is wanting BIG BREAKS smile.gif HMM I want them so bad.
yea cept like nobody here will make any use of big brake kits laugh.gif

Then wouldn't it have made a certain amount of sense to post the intent in the original thread starter? If that doesn't occur then wouldn't my question following that make perfect sense for someone who wasn't part of your inside information?
Why do you always feel the need to come across like that in your posts? Did you not get enough hugs as a child or do you just feel superior because "MY CAR has more SWAPS then yours"?
WTF?
nope never got hugged...thats how i got the name playr ?!

sorry i'll make sure to find the sensitivity option when i log on next time laugh.gif you're the one who said you didn't see to start anyways i'm just agreeing with you
and telling you what you should be seeing:)

though i find it ironic you're complaining and your SN is "negative"

lol, I thought the idea of this thread was to cut the crap and just figure it out. So what if it was just for the ST guys? It's still helping someone is it not? I'll call some local yards around here and see what there is.
if i get a chance this weekend i'll go grab a 7th gen rotor at advanced and slip it over the knuckle laying in my room...
or you can try it on my car! that is if you can get that stupid wheel lock off frown.gif

Not what I meant. I'm all for helping out any Celica. Just wondering if there would be a benifit to me as well.

Player158 - you're profile says you have 7th gen big brake kit. Does that mean you swapped knuckles too or something? How did you do it?
its in the processes all that stuff in my profile if you look at #1 thing under each section displays "in progress"
i havn't gotten to them yet, but i'll probably end up with ST205 superstrut suspension

but thanks for reminding me i have to go back and change that crap to the newer version smile.gif

ok suckas I have done some research and found out some things.

I did a search for "7th" in the sus forum here and found a bunch of big brake posts and from the info in all of them combined this is my conclusion....

7th gen brakes will fit on an ST (front) but not a GT. The rears will not work with either GT or ST.
