Midwest Meet, Spring '13! - 6G Celicas Forums
Just drove 90/94 to Depaul and back to drop off the girl, holy **** those elevated roadways are absolute hell in the Celica now. What an exhausting drive.

Our plans aren't lining up, but if we can get a volunteer to drive Manda and Justin back home (lakefront), I can certainly get them out to the meet.

Alrighty guys, the list is growing. I have one more 7th gen that is for sure going, he's out of Chicago. There are four more 7th gen's that say that they will really try to come. If I had to say, I bet two of the four will actually show up. This is going to be one big meet. I know you guys like all the usual company, but this will be fun to see some new Toyota's and meet new people. All the 7th gen guys I've met are all nice and friendly. Has anyone drove through Starved rock lately?
Also, I'll bring some kind of sausage, what do you guys want? Brats, Polish, or Italian?
1. Chris and Stacy - puppy chow, propane, guac?
2. Daniel and Brigette - BBQ Burgers
3. Noberto and family
4. Zach - water and pop
5. John BANNED
6. Devin - Propane Grill
7. Luke and Maggie
8. Jordan (and Erin?)
9. Chee La and Mai See (+1) - things to grab food with and things to put food on as well as some sort of pastry/dessert goodness.
10. Shig and Ting Ting - snacks like crackers and stuff
11. Manda and Justin - epic cookie cake thing with a wagon ride.
12. Joe - 12 Pk. of Coke and Sausage links
13. Sean - Burger Buns
14. Dalton - 12 Pk. of Dew
15. Ben and GF - Chips
16. Rod - Sausage buns
There are four more 7th gen's that are possibles...

Hi Kids!!!
That annoying guy with the HillBillyTacoTruck will be present once again.
There ain't no sissy vegetarians between the ranks, right? I'll bring *some* skirt steak to grill & go nuts with.....some accompanying additives too....torilla's/grilled veg/sour cream etc with as well.
I'll out-fox y'alls again with my propane torch in case EVERYBODY FORGETS. Those grills are still there like last time, right? Prolly a good idea for me to bring some coal as well for extra grilling surface area in case we bring more food than grill.
Are we all good on drinks & sides?
Bonus Feature! The aforementioned HillBillyTacoTruck will be in it's first phase of it's boosted twin-screw supercharger epoch!
Double Bonus Feature! I'll be bringing along a genuine member of the Neanderthal species with as well! They just emerged from the caves and have just discovered the wonders that is a wheel!

Well this turnout looks promising. I wasn't planning on bringing THAT many burgers. Laziness may prevail and I'll buy some pre-made (not cheap) burgers just so I don't have to put forth any effort. I'm still trying to figure out how to fit a cooler in this:

Either way, I'm working Friday so I won't be home until 8:30, still have to do all of my shopping, get everything ready to go, and hit the road at 5 am. Gonna be short on sleep already, so I may just go with some store bought burgers (again, NOT the cheap frozen ones.)

what's the point of having a hatch if you can't use it? hahaha.
I got it. just enclose your trunk in fiberglass and then dump some ice in it and put all the food in there. DONE!

And so you have somewhere to stick a sub to replace the god-awful factory Bose sub. I'll figure something out, like a few small coolers. Or just buy the burgers when I get up there. Who is bringing the buns?

I have two vacation days left and I've just found out that I need them both for a family trip in November. So unless someone decides to have a mini-meet on a Sunday-Wednesday, Brigette and I won't be able to make it.
I demand many pictures from this meet! I will attend vicariously through this thread.

I might have to buy a bigger grill. Hmmm...
Never Forget. - 2013 Mustang. I miss you every day.
I can bring my little propane grill also if it's needed or more charcoal, I have two bags here. We can get two charcoal grills running at the same time. Hell, I'll bring a wire brush and some grill cleaner so we can have a CLEAN grill grate! (or just steal the grate out of my grill to cook ontop of).

Looks like I'm going cooler shopping in the morning. I seriously doubt if we'll get a phone call and miraculously end up cruising up there in the Celica.

Lol of course the rear suspension creaks. Gotta love that Datsun quality! Does your girlfriend have the DE or HR? We're seriously tempted to trade ours in for a 6 speed HR, despite how much we hate the manual trans in Z's.
