great build so far manny, well done.

so heres the question, have you ever driven an all-trac before? and if so, how do you think it compares to the regular 6th gen swap?

since the spherical shifter bushings i ordered for jim only come in one size, and the alltrac has one bushing thats larger than the other, i had the local machine shop cut us a spacer for the larger bushing.

a couple pics.

fits perfectly. for future refrence, the OD of the bushing is ~1.07"

i need to remake the drain line for the turbo, jim supplied some teflon lined SS line and fittings, and the line itself is not flexable at all.
i will be remaking it with earls SS line and fittings.

a pic to illustrate what im talking about.
in it, the teflon line is using a 45* fitting, the rubber a straight. in theory in teflon line has less stress on it because half of the 90* bend im making with the hose is done with the fitting, but as you can see, it clearly kinked before completing the bend, where the rubber liner conforms to the bend shape nicely.

>wow.
i've been excited for alot of the projects i've done over the years here, and have had alot of fun doing so, but i gotta tell ya, this morning, when this package arrived, it was one of the best moments i've ever had while doing this stuff.

im excited to show you guys the first "offical" JDM Guy Garage Item (lol), our Optima Battery Tray / Relocation Kit.

a few pics of the Battery Tray itself:

i had a couple extra hold downs made:

The full relocation kit will include:
  • The Battery hold down Tray, with hardware and made to fit Red and Yellow Top 35/75 and 34/78 series Batteries.
  • High Quality 0GA Power and Ground Cables, cut to length, grommets to run it thru the interior plastics, and copper lugs soldered in place.
  • Battery Terminals (Optional)
  • Install Instructions

All the Customer will need to do is install the tray, run the wire, bolt the power cable to the positive battery wire in the engine bay, bolt on whatever battery terminal they choose (we can supply these as well) install the battery, ground it with the supplied ground cable, and make the connections.

The Tray by itself will run ~90$ shipped, the complete kit is TBA, im pricing everything out before i set the price.

LMAO! its true, just about everything but the motor ends up on that bench at some point.

fixed the return line, glad i did, too, the line was definetly starting to pinch shut, and folded up pretty good while removing it.
a couple pics.

most of the damage to the line you see here was from taking it out

the damage to the liner

this teflon lined stuff is ok, as long as the hose is traveling in a straight line. once you try to bent it and it kinks, you need to remove it and throw it away, cause it permanantly damages it.

yea dude, this way is WAYYYY cleaner than pins sticking out of the hood IMO, and more secure. they even have locking versions!

... thank god (for the tons of pics, I mean).

I have to attempt this feat sometime early this year and I'm scared sh!tless of drilling my ST205 hood... I couldn't imagine having to do it for a CF hood.

But I'm with you, Manny, I love the slick look of these types of locks, I can't wait to see the finished product on mine. tongue.gif

Are you going to drill out the remaining 6 holes around the perimeter of the locks too?

Another ???; whats the deciding factor for you where you mount the pins on the frame? Strength/Location? Look/Convenience? I know this was on a 5th gen hood, but the 6th Gen has too many bumps and curves in the area that should have the hood pins mounted...

I have an idea of where I'm going to mount mine though... I just hope the hood is forgiving enough to let me put them there.

i put the latches where jim wanted them, also where i thought they would work best.
i wanted to mount the pins in the radiator support like normal, but it dont work with these latches.
definetly have to drill the other 6 holes as well, ran out of garage time before i could, aerocatch supplies machine head screws and locknuts to hold them in, but thats not gonna work here, so i think im going to rivet them in place with aluminum rivets, and then paint the heads black.

Could you do me a favor, and somehow take a vid of you doing the rivets? Someone suggests using rivets, because theres no way I can get the lock washers/bolts to work either; but I have no clue how to do it.

If not, I understand... I'm sure I could youtube a demo or something. tongue.gif
