Man I love those damn things.... I don't ever have to worry about any type of braking, panic or otherwise. I'm really glad that I went with them.

So glad in fact, that I'm probably going to wait until next summer before I put on the GT4 brakes.

~bloodMoney
smile.gif Knew you'd like them, do you feel what I mean about how they bite harder as they get hotter?

2000 Celica GTS 'slowest gts evar'1998 Mazda 626 FS-DE/CD4-E
Most definitely.

And I've gotten them HOT.

~bloodMoney
you got SS brake hoses too? Those feel great, really help brake modulation when you're playing around.

2000 Celica GTS 'slowest gts evar'1998 Mazda 626 FS-DE/CD4-E
No. I'm going to wait until I've got the ST205 brakes all the way around the car. That way, when I put them on, I'll throw on the new lines too.

~bloodMoney
really really worth it man, they're great. If you ever want to take my slow-mobile around the block before you buy a real GTS let me know, we can go for a spin.

So I decided to be spontaneous and pick up a set of wheels so that I could show something off at the next meet.

They're sick right? Well, they won't be on the car.... turns out, the guy swore up and down that they were 5x100/114.3 but they're definitely 5x114.3/120

So now I'm trying to get rid of these things just so that I can get my money back....

After I failed hard at putting those rims on, I checked my oil and added 1/2 quart. I filled up this afternoon and checked it again.... It didn't read on the stick frown.gif

Needless to say that i just got back in from the garage.... I replaced the dizzy O-ring b/c I could see it dripping off the distributor after I shut the car off and opened the hood. While trying to pull the old o-ring off, it broke in half (as soon as I got the screwdriver under it) and the new one went on without incident. I'm going to see driving on it for a day to see if my level stays the same, otherwise I've got a new VC gasket kit with plug rings.

I guess we'll see right?

Oh, also, If you know someone in the market for wheels they are

XXR 522 Gold
18x8.5 +30
5x114.3/ 5x120

The tires are BRAND NEW Federal ss595 215/40-18

and I'm asking the $1000 I paid for them.

Let me emphasize that everything in the package is BRAND NEW. They even have TPMS sensors. smile.gif

~bloodMoney
damn those look nice. This is gonna be a great meet

reading is overrated haha. Sorry to hear they're no good man. And I know what a pain oil loss is, hopefully the new gasket helps
I demand an update.

Not only did I find pics of this weekend's engine pull, but I also found the pics from June when I had to pull the motor to replace the clutch

AND

I found the pics from the last meet that Stacy never uploaded....

But here's the pics from this weekend smile.gif

When I got there, I had a broken crash bar

And a busted condenser

New Crash bar!!!

We decided that I would be a good time to take the carpet out so that we could put it in the sun to dry smile.gif

Its not very often the front of the car gets to look at the back...

This timing belt only has 46,xxx miles on it.... Anyone see a problem?

Thank god I ordered a new rear engine mount kindasad.gif

Draining the rest of the gear oil...

Dirty engine bay?

Clean it up with Orbitz!... ermm... Stacy and Brigette lol

Getting the interior back together...

Thanks Daniel! I LOVE these seats....

500 miles later. (Yes, I drove it 500 miles in two days)

I think we fixed it. Funny enough, we didn't even think about a difference in the seat belt from a '94 to a '96, so we ended up driving home sitting on the buckles to make it look like we were buckled in.... Stacy and I fixed it last night, because it was too weird driving around with no restraints kindasad.gif

All in all, It was a fun weekend thanks to Daniel's hospitality and generosity.

Although, I do still have to wash all the black fingerprints off her....

~bloodMoney
wow good stuff!! that cleaner got your engine bay really clean!

1.) My engine bay is still filthy. She still won't clean it for me, Chris.

2.) I'm making that picture of you and Stacy my sig just because I actually got a picture of Stacy doing work.

3.) I'm glad you got the seatbelt latches transferred over! Who knew that they were different?

4.) I'm glad the 5S is working out for you. I can't wait to put a second motor in your car though...

5.) ??????

6.) Profit!

Looks like they even cleaned all the silver from the engine bay! WOW!

I like how Brigette helped work on your car but sits there and texts when I'm working on her car... I see how it is.... I guess a JDM dipstick is better than a USDM dipstick.

Thanks Ferdi! Yea... With this being the 3rd time I've had to pull the motor in the last 6 months, it just keeps getting easier....

I'm a page behind but I just wanted to comment that Chris shows exactly why you can't count on just MILES when figuring when a timing belt is due. Like any rubber it will age and crack...60k or 5 years is the suggested interval!

He had 50k and something like two years? It was cracked very prematurely.

I had one go 12 years and 175k.

So, I was driving to work this morning when I noticed something out of my peripheral...

The freaking heater core is going out again!

For the last few weeks, I've noticed that if I park the car for a short time (at a store), I've been getting a streak of fog on the passenger side of the car. I didn't think anything of it as we replaced the core April of last year and it can't be the AC due to the fact that neither of my lines out of the compressor are hooked up an my condenser looks like swiss cheese.

Sure enough, on the highway this morning I saw smoke/vapor coming out from under the glovebox. Maybe it is because I'm used to it, but when I tried to waft a bit of it for confirmation, it didn't smell like coolant....

The funny thing is, I made a comment yesterday about how good the car has been for the last 6 months or so... It's things like this that make me thankful that I bit the bullet and bought a new car. I really don't want to put the car down for repair again though, despite the ralliart- I truly enjoy driving the Celica.

She's tackled the tail of the dragon for three years running and almost every part on the car is new with the exception of the shell... One would think that with all the upgrades and maintenence, I should be good for longer than six months.

I guess I'm just tired of celebrating mediocre milestones like "6 months without having to perform major surgery".

Am I the only one who feels like this?

Yea. We replaced the heater core with a new toyota genuine unit (our wallets still hurt) and things seem to be looking alright now.

We have been focusing most of our efforts on the 88, so now that its running well, we are probably going to pull Abby off the road next summer for the overhaul.

I did find a little treat that needs immediate attention though.... You'll have to wait until I get home from work. Photobucket seems to be hating me right now.
