350z or s2000 - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #64169 43 posts Started by masterluie214
I like them both they both have there pro and cons and i will be buying of theses cars soon hopefully just thought i would get some more ideas of what people think about one or the other comments about why one would be better then the other would be great ......

thanks

PS. if i get the s2000 i will be buying the hard top for it so think of both of theses cars as coupes and the perches of the hard top although it is expensive is not a factor in witch one i will buy ..... this is based on looks, performance, maintenance and things along that line ......

350z hands down.

My friend bought an s2k and let me drive it. For like the first hour we were trying to figure out what was wrong with it. You would step on the gas and the car just didnt go anywhere. We were thinking maybe it had traction control. Then we realized that the car just had zero torque and we were used to turbo cars... lol.

Seriously, get the 350z. At least it has some balls.

s2000 hands down, its over 500 lbs lighter
no torque, but crazy high redline
s2000's are cool but 350z IMO are better.
Hard decision actually, but I hope my input will provide you some insight.

I heard the 350z has a very, very high insurance premium because of the outstanding number of fatality rates caused by that car. I think we have the Tokyo Drift movie to blame, just as how insurance companies are also targetting people in between the ages of 18-30 to charge higher insurance rates if they try to insure a 240sx. Anyway, if you do decide to get the Z; if it were me, my first mod would be a roll cage. wink.gif

yes s2000 are 500 lbs lighter but the 350z makes up for it with 270hp - 300hp depending on the year and i have heard 350z are faster

Yeah, you have to keep between 7-9k at all times to get anything out of it and even then its Meh. Anything under that feels like I tried to start my celica from a dead stop in 5th gear.

The 350Z, due to the fact (and I'm assuming you aren't getting a roadster) that it is a solid roof design, will probably handle better, and is definitely quicker. One of my friends has an automatic Z (fail!) but even still, it smokes manual Mustang GT's. I've driven an S2K, and just as everyone said, it was slow as balls. I was trying to rip on it as the salesman wanted me too (I had no intentions of buying the car and he knew it- we were both bored tongue.gif) but anything below 5,000 RPM felt a lot slower than our cars. It picked up a lot after 5,000, but it still didn't feel special. It wasn't loafing around though, don't get me wrong. My friend won't let me drive his Z, so I can't give you a firsthand side-by-side comparison, but I will say that I do like a good vert biggrin.gif I say go for the S2000, especially since you are getting the hard top.

A friend of mine has a super charged s2k, this solves the no torque problem wink.gif Stock for stock I think the s2k is a better looking car but hey, its your money so enjoy your choice!

sometimes its not always as easily decided by looking at 0-60. . .

The 350Z, at least you can have some power to the wheel without going over the speed limit...and that v6 sounds really sweet.

I don't know what makes you think that, as I've personally taken all 3 of those cars before. I'm sure other swappers will tell you they've done the same.

A 3s swap is on par with an STI/Evo. Mustang GT's are no problem.

I've driven both of these several times and IMO the 350z wins because of the way the engine sounds. And don't forget about the G35 coupe, it's pretty ballin too. Gl with the purchase they're both nice cars but I give the Z the edge
I say 350z because Nissan>Honda. True story.

x2, that's what I was thinking.

I would say the Z, even though it has a fugly interior...I'm just not impressed by VTEC.
I think that one of the good things about the s2000 is that I don't have to worry about options lol that car comes with leather standard and things along that nature .... with the 350z there are so many different models witch can get kind of annoying it makes me think do I want the base for a lighter car all together so I can beef it up or do I get the high end with the leather and auto seats navigation? ..... The 350z has what like 5 or 6 different models and if I get it used not only do i have to pay attention to all that stuff but also the miles on the car have to look to see if it was moded before, with the s2k all you really have to pay attention to are the basics when buying a car like miles, mantence ext. because there all pretty much the same exepet the light body change stated in 04..... I like them both but im starting to think I might be turning to the 350z more then again I have heard they have alot of bugs i mean they are only a 5 year old car the s2k has had going on 9 years to work out all the bugs.....
i think the s2k had two versions. ep1 and ep2? so you have to pay attention to that also. the earlier models had a 9k redline too.

The S2000 is closer in formula to what a true sports car is, while with the 350Z, I think muscle car... Unless drag racing is your thing, I’d much rather be the owner of a S2K

Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06Car #2: 95 Celica GT- purchased 8/03, current daily driverCar #1: 01 Focus ZX3- purchased 5/01, sold 8/03
ap1 and ap2 i believe.

i'd say s2000, crazy redline, lighter, and s2000 has holds its value pretty well.

350z is nice but i heard it has crappy interior + i just think the s2000 is more stylish biggrin.gif

I would not say holds its value at this point not anymore then the 350z only because you can find them around the same price low or high either way it go's it seams everyone has some good points it seams either way I chose to go I would probably be pretty happy with either one

Supra~4.8 laugh.gif

Toyota owns all!!!

The S2K did have two versions, you guys are right about that. Couldn't tell you what they are called, just that one had a 2.2 liter and the newer version had a 2.0, both putting out around 240 hp.

That's very true. The Celica is not and never was a straight line car. Take that 3S and put it on an autocross track against that Mustang GT and see which wins. I'm not saying it'll beat the S2K or 350Z in the autocross, both of those cars are amazing and would outperform my GT any day. But I believe a GT4 will put a Mustang GT to bed in any race that involves handling, even though the Mustang could win in a drag race. Both cars were built for different purposes, and as such, really aren't even comparable.
