GB: Clear Lenses for headlights - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #50093 157 posts Started by dustin15brown
ok here's the deal guys. I wanted to have pics posted up by today, but I've been sick for a few days so nothing has gotten accomplished. I will *hopefully* have those up mid week or so...

Also- I have received a few pm's regarding the 'yellowing' or 'fogging' issues that many plastic lenses come in contact with. As stated earlier in the thread from Josh. Yellowing and fogging has never been an issue as long as they are installed properly. The main reason for the yellowing is in the UV coating, and Josh says there's a good UV coat on them. The fogging occurs when there's a leak in the seal around the light. This problem is easily avoidable if you install the lights properly and make sure there are no leaks. As with everyone else, I'm getting a set of these for myself, so I'll try to help as much as i can! Continue with the questions if you have them!
Will you take a money order?
and will they still be avalible in a couple of weeks?
Dustin, *poke*
don't forget to show us some picts of the beam pattern before and after.

Money order SHOULD be ok... I am guessing all the money will go straight to Josh to avoid middlemen and conspiracy theories on how I'm scamming people :-P

Yes, patience is a virtue smile.gif But just stay tuned tonight for the hell of it :-P
ok guys here's the deal now. First of all my digicam is a POS and wouldn't work correctly so I used a ghetto and i mean GHETTO digicam to take these pics. I also have a few on my phone i'll upload tomorrow.
The lights look AMAZING on the car.... Seriously.... I even called my dad to come over to the building just to look at them since I knew the pics wouldn't be that hot.
Lighting issues: Just as I has guessed. The beam is a lot more focused causing the light output to not properly light up the road. There are no issues with blinding oncoming cars AT ALL. I do suspect that HIDS will be a major issue with blinding people though. At the same time, those already without projectors that do have HID's are already blinding people, so there's no change. The highs are also a lot more focused. They still adequately light up the road when on though. My personal opinion is *theoretically, since these are for off-road use only in the first place because they will not meet DOT inspection* that if you're driving around a decently lit town you'd be fine only using your lows, but if you live in a darker town that still has a lot of traffic, these may not be for you because you would need to use your highs. Here are some of the pics, and I will upload the rest tomorrow because it's 3 freakin AM and this has consumed my entire night.

These pics are with the front silver piece painted black. This is a little more subtle look, but I enjoy looking at both of these looks.

i REALLY disagree..... i love the look
ans k-esd nailed the light output
WOW!!! those are friggin HAWT!!!!!....for a while there, i thought u had JDMs.....GJ!!!
This is my opinion.

based on the pictures below i think that this is a really bad idea. the first patter evenly distributes the light and the second is like a spot light. Not to mention that the inside of the stock lights are ugly.
I think a lot of people are going to have a problem with these at night.

just my $0.02.

Buy my Celica $2,500 -http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76562&st=0
Thank you for your opinion Tina. I originally thought that the inner housings were really ugly until I pic the lense on the car and put the front bumper back on, and now I really like the look. I stand firmly in saying that whoever DOES get these will be surprised at how good they look on the car. As for the light output, yes I agree it's not very good, and I've warned those thinking about getting these. At the same time, those with HIDs should have no problem at all because regardless they're going to be blinding people without projectors.

Dew- so your impressed enough despite the light output to stay on board? I think we have a tester for getting pics of these with HIDs. So we will soon see.

Once again guys, do not feel obligated to stay with these if you truly don't like them or like how the light output is going to look. If there aren't ten people the price just goes up. And if no one wants a set besides me, that's also fine because I just wanted a nice clear set of lenses made incase anything should ever happen to my clear glass lenses!

If someone on the boards (eg: Rayme) would offer an affordable service and/or a nice how-to for projectors then the light output isn't even an issue because you would have projectors

I think that is a very mature and pragmatic attitude and I'd like to thank you for your work so far. I still have concerns but I really feel that the community approach could be a goer. If you can provide the lenses, someone else can provide the HID kits. Maybe someone else will manufacture some (perhaps fiberglass) insides to hold the projector firm and someone else will provide a conversion service - well then we will have a right little production line / cottage industry going on!

Personally, I quite like the industrial look of the projector lenses without the rear shroud but I also understand that look might not be for everyone. It would be nice to have a few different options.

either way this community is getting some new high tech toys. It's only a matter of time until the technique of producing them is refined and offered to everyone.

i think they look great and am still in to buy them. smile.gif
I just started working full time again after many months of unemployment. I have a few bills I have to catch up on, and I have to buy some tools for my new job at a toyota body shop. But in two or three weeks I'll have the money to buy these. I even have a pair of projectors I took out of a BMW at picknpull, but I think I'll buy an extra pair of low beams before I do that. If it's cool that I use a money order just let me know where to send it and who I am sending it to.
Those of you who are ready to start sending payment will be able to do so within the next couple of days. Money will be going directly to Josh via his website. Thanks guys
How long will these be avalible, and what is the website with his info for sending him the money? I might even buy two sets because I'm getting another set of headlights for free. I want to make one set with projetors in all four, I just need two more projectors.

you want to put 4 HIDs bulbs in your headlights! confused.gif

Not HIDs just the projetor lens themselves over the stock 9006 and 9005 bulbs. The BMW I took the two projectors out of used the same bulbs so I figure they should work just fine. I just need to figure out how far away from the bulbs the projectors need to be, it shouldn't be hard with all of the tools I have at work. I'll try to take a picture of the lens tonight.

I don't think using just the lens will work.

I put two pics in my profile of the projector I will be using I think they should work without the HIDs but I'll know for sure later on after I order my clear lenses, but I still need to hear back from Dustin about where and who to send the money to.
What web site is offering this to us? Like how do i place my order for the lenses and where/who to give my money to?
Sorry I have been kinda sparse lately... I'm in the process of wrapping up summer and moving back up to college. I'll get everyone their paying information here in a few days if that's ok. Also, I experimented with a few different looks on the lights so i'll keep you guys up to date smile.gif
