GB: Clear Lenses for headlights - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #50093 157 posts Started by dustin15brown
Background: Ok guys here's the deal. We have found a company to make us cleared plastic lenses for the celica. As of right now the regular pricing on these would be $110 for the lows or $105 for the highs. In a previously relayed e-mail from Lovo, the pricing was set at $100 but after further inspection of the lights and some long phone calls, the price went a bit higher. Shipping is also a standard $10 on all of his lenses.

News: Here's what I can tentatively offer right now. *All deals must also include appropriate paypal fees if paying by that*
1)Clear low beam lenses for $90 plus $8 shipping.
2)Clear high beam lenses for $85 plus $8 shipping.
3)All four lenses for $170 plus $10 shipping.
That is a decently priced savings on an already good price in my opinion.

Details: I am mailing out a set of lenses tomorrow so that he can make the mold. The bad part about this is that I will be losing ALL four lenses because of how he makes the lense. And honestly that REALLY sucks. (if someone would like to donate their old lenses to me upon receiving the new lenses it would be much appreciated) The turn around time is not set in stone either. Expect to wait around few weeks to a month before getting these. In order for us to obtain these prices I must get atleast 10 (TEN) customers for each set.

>>PLEASE READ: Because the light output is unknown at this time, I will be taking before and after pictures to ensure you are as informed as possible about what you will be getting into. Generally speaking, the light outpout onto the road will not be as good. It most likely will be a lot more focused and not spread out on the road. This brings up the question of HIDs. I will most likely buy a HID set to test out the before and after on these also atleast for the low beams. With all that said, these lenses will NOT meet DOT certification and are technically for "offroad use only" I will not be liable to problems associated with the lenses at ALL. I will provide a how-to on how to properly install these.>>

Other options: I will be pricing out how much it costs to chrome the inner front housing piece also. I plan to fiberglass and bondo the ridges to get a smooth appearance then test out the chroming option. I do not have a price for this yet.

Please e-mail ME with all questions as though Josh will not likely answer emails due to his busy schedule. As of today, I'm at the head of this operation and in charge. This means to email me with all questions and I will compile a FAQ and relay the questions to Josh. Thanks

possibly interested, just waiting on sum pix biggrin.gif

You say you don't understand how we go dumb, but have you ever been where i'm from?-=-] Livin it in tha bay's a lil different [-=-
ONE SMALL THING:

These lenses will only be GOOD if you are going to RETROFIT projectors in your headlights. If you put these clear lenses on your STOCK lights - you will not have ANY CUT OFF - and will be blinding EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. Cuz frosted lense on celica headlights is for proper light disperse and proper cut off.

On the newer cars (when they have clear glass and NO projectors) reflector housing is formed so - that it could disperse the light and make the cutoff, glass has no impact on all this. On our celicas - its vise versa (glass disperse the light and makes cutoff - reflector only focuses light to the glass)

That is what I'm kind of thinking... Although you won't be blinding people from everything I've read, the light will just be a lot more focused and potentially not helpful for nighttime driving. But, these are perfect for those planning on retrofitting projectors or those using these primarily for show use
im in for lows..

I'm def. interested, however the biggest issue is not knowing the quality of the lens. I don't want something that will haze within a couple years, I have to know if these lens will withstand the harshness of winter and road crap blast.

How thick will these lens be? What type of plastic will be used? Any protection coating and UV resistance? Will the lens be the exact shape of the old lens (on the outside)?

yea this should be on the first post, if you dont retrofit any projectors you will blind everybody and you won't see where you go. I might be in, but as for everything, I like to SEE what I buy.

Ok here's what I got you K-ESD:
This is from an e-mail from Josh ".090 clear ext acrylic
not as thick as stock due to no vacuum strong enough to pull the acrylic down.... yet.

i have used the same lenses for over 3 years now on my car. 125,000 miles! not a thing wrong. but i dont live in the snow. but many of my customers live in canada and have had their projector lights for over 2 years in the snow. two customers sold their headlights (sold the cars) and still nothing wrong."
if you have more questions, keep them coming smile.gif I want everyone to be as informed as humanly possible on these.

NEW NEWS: If you would like to ORDER projectors with your lenses and undertake retrofitting these in yourself, '06 infiniti FX35 D2S bi-xenon projectors are available for purchase also. The package deal would be
1) buy just one set of the lenses and the projectors at $195 + $13 shipping
2) buy both sets of lenses and then the projectors at a total of $275 + $13 shipping
*These prices are tentative prices and are not set in stone as of yet.

Edit: Also, those wishing to not messing with breaking their lenses or headlights, I will be offering a service for you to ship me your headlights and I will replace the lenses for you then ship them back to you. PM me for pricing and timetables

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
so lemme get this str8...$208 shipped for the fx35 projectors + low beam clear lenses??? maybe im too stupid to figure this out
this is one hella deal I can see why so many jumped on it so fast

yep as long as I wasn't mistaken when I relayed this information. I will confirm it tomorrow. But remember, this is for the projector only, YOU would have to retrofit it AND make a housing

FX35 projectors are bi-xenon, basicly your low beam celica unit will be both your high and low beams...I dont think that price is for 4 projectors.

I would jump into this but I just spend 300$ on denso ballast and, funnily, FX35 projectors for a custom retrofit...and I can't wait any longer to get started..probably later I'd be in for sure, if theres a way to get them later on too.

you can get em later for more money, refer to his first post... i think its a 30-40 dollar difference plus shipping
then add a set of projectors with the lows when the deals set in stone biggrin.gif ONE thing, i thought u were gonna make a HOW-to?

if not, u guys can check out hondatuning (i think its either the may or june issue of 07). they explained a how-to on doing a projector conversion on a 1g TL......they too used the fx35 projectors in their project.....
