- Rear caliper from any 6th gen. Celica without ABS (ABS calipers may work, but I don't know for sure)
- Rotor
- Backplate with internal brake components for parking brake (drum brake inside walls of rotor)
- Parking brake cable from a 6th gen. GT (this component can come from one with ABS, but the rest cannot.)

i already got some calipers and rotors for my disc brake conversion. all i need now is the rear backplate and brake cable from a gt. i heard you can just modify the st's cable, but not too sure about that. anyone parting a gt or have these things for sale? am i gonna need anything else? thanks, any info is appreciated.

edit: might be willing to buy whole setup and just keep/sell parts i don't need.

the backing plates are about $30-40 each from the dealer, its not that bad.

that's one of my options. i'm also checking out some junkyards. just wanted to know if anyone has some they wanna get rid of.

i checked into doing this with all new parts i would just over $1000.00 and thats with my discount!

no way! i needed new drum back plates, i went to planet toyota in matteson and walked out with both of them for $67 with tax.

1995 to 2003 camry is in there too, i checked the parking brake shoes to and its the same for highlander,camry,avalon,solara,celica.

arent drum back plates different than rotor back plates?

i think so. i wish i could use st backplates.

well yes i know theyre different, but not different enough to justify such a high price, its not like theyre platinum plated or made from stainless steel!

theyre both just a stamped steel plate, one is made for drums and the other is made for disc brakes. ive seen these parts off cars, the differences are minor and the materials are the same. yeesh! what a ripoff. i still think you best bet would be a junkyard.

i tried calling a some junkyards from car-parts.com.... only thing i can get is the entire rear brake set-up. i already have calipers and rotors but no one is willing to sell just the backing plates and e-brake internals seperately. sucks.

buy the whole assembly, sell what you dont need

i'll save that option as a last resort. cuz i don't wanna spend even more money with no guarantee i'll get it back.
