question: is it possible to use backing plates and e-brake internals from a celica with abs? what's the difference from non-abs that would prevent using abs parts?

if you do not have ABS you'll just have some extra things that won't be hooked up to anything. I would assume it should work fine, just as if you disconnected the abs from an abs equipped car.

so they'd still be able to work on my car? i don't wanna rear end a car or park my car and have it roll downhill or what-not. can anyone else confirm that abs parts will work cuz i'd hate to waste time and money.

I don't see why there would be any problem, the ABS system controls the calipers. I believe the knuckles are universal in design, its just that the ABS variations have holes drilled into the for the sensors. I know there is a difference between abs and non abs axles.
If anything would be different between the abs and non abs on the rear I would assume it would be the hub.
I say try it out, you don't necessarily need a parking brake in most situations.

I don't think anyone's going to sell you just the backing plates and internal e-brake...people want to sell the whole conversion. That's probably what you'll have to do.

i know a junkyard that'll only sell the whole setup, but just checking to see if i can get just the parts i need. if i can't then i'll eventually just get the whole set but i'm not in any kinda hurry.
