My new Rims (updated 5/15/06, finished) - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #36034 54 posts Started by devilsden97
Yeah so i got them from tirerack.com for $99 a piece, when they originally went for $238. Close out rims. Cost me a total of $447, with shipping, no tires as of yet. (make suggestions) Here is a pic of them.

http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/mill...t3_cg_ci3_l.jpg i got them in that color.

(More pics when i get them mounted, and then on the car.)

(kinda having an oil leak issue, so maybe ordering rims at this time was a rash decision, but oh well.)

edit: also ordered sportline lowering springs, and the camber adjustments for both front and back.

If you want a good warranty on your tires... search around for the cheapest cheapest price you could find online for tires, print it out, and price match with America's Tires Co. They have great warranty on tires, no worry about running a nail.

does this apply to their online site too? the price matching that is..
Hey, nice find on rims...what size are they? Post some pictures when you get them on. thumbsup.gif
The look alot like those stock 2000+ Celica rims... the ones like snapshotgt has (which look really good) I think these are going to look really nice. You can get tires now-a-days for really cheap.

I am now a part of the ihavemorethen16gc club!
yeah i like that they look stockish, just there larger, 17" and they are darker....i wanted the "hyber carbon" but they sold out. Hyper carbon is dark dark gun metal, almost black. but i am happy.

Any suggestions on performance tires...like companies? or specific tires? (215/40/17 is the tire size i need)

Hey man. I have had the same set of Mille Miglia wheels since 2000 (6 years almost) and they still look like new. Great choice!
looks good. now get them on and take some pics.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
You really didnt need that camber kit at all smile.gif

Nice wheels and good width and offset. We just put some 17x8 +35 on my g/f's 96GT and lowered it. She got 215/45/17 tires and i would recommend that size over 215/40... I think 235/40 would clear fine with +35 offset and be perfect on 8in wide rims...

went to a local wheel place, they say that anything larger then 215 on the 8" wheel will rub in front. Can anyone verify?

Im looking at Falkin ZIEX ze 512 in 215/40 or 45/17 i can get them for $116 a piece. Only question is, if i get the 45 will they rub??

Sorry to take this off subject but when would our celica's need a camber kit?

Very nice rims, Can't wait to see them on your ride.

Eibach "highly suggests" ordering 2 camber adjusters when u order there springs. Me not knowing that i wouldnt really need them, ordered them.

Update: Rims, lugs, centercaps, springs, and camber adjusters should be here on Monday! WOOT!

I'm gonna order Falken ZIEX ZE 512 tires on monday, and they should arrive in 2 or 3 days.

Looking at maybe wedneday or friday for install. So excited....i cant wait.

Don't get a 215 tire.....thats pretty narrow for a 17x8 wheel, and unless you have a rediculous drop, which you won't probably have with the springs, you definately aren't going to rub. Trust me.

I would use at least a 225/40/17 or 225/45/17, depending on how thick of a profile tire you want. You could even go with a 235 to really get some meat on those wheels but thats about it, otherwise the tire will bulge out beyond the wheel a little.....but you won't rub just by using a healthy size tire on a relatively wide wheel.

Get the right size tires so you can enjoy the merits of a nice wide wheel like that.

i like them, the color and the design good choice
well to be more exact, after talking to Lagos about his tire's size, and reading some posts here, ive decide to get 225/45/17 Falken ZEIX ZE 512, im way excited and totally cant wait to get these puppies on, and take pics.

exactly. I have the same springs and i got the same alignment kit. had it put in this weekend. I suggested it because my camber was WAY off. This helped a lot, along with the alignment and balancing. Better safe then sorry.

Edit: they look nice

Buy my Celica $2,500 -http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=76562&st=0
could someone please remind me of the difference between jealousy and envy? i don't know which i'm feeling right now wink.gif !

thumbsup.gif nice friggin' wheels..not too flashy, not to trashy!

what i really envy (or am jealous of) is the Sportline springs. let us know how the install goes and the effect on the ride (too stiff, bearable or just right).

Update: Just got the rims balanced, and the tires put on.

Falken zeix ze 512's

bad picture cuz it was getting dark, and my batteries are almost dead so flash doesnt work. Sorry, just take my word, there falkens.

ok heres some fun news! the shop that is putting in my springs called me about a half hour ago. Some linkage between my swayarms and my struts were broken in the back, and its gonna cost me $210 in parts to fix it. kindasad.gif Doing some math, with help from someone else (cuz i couldnt bear to type it all into the calculator) the running total thus far is $1688.25 and that doesnt include there labor charge, which i dont know what it will be yet, and a $100 alignment. I figure $2,000 in the end. all to lower the car 1.5inches all around and put some rims on it....yeah not worth it, this will be my last mod, for a while.

edit: shop called, all installed, but no alignment frown.gif Cost: $480 Total so Far: $2,168.50

And I called a place that does the alignments for lowered cars....$80 per hour, and he estimates it will take 3 hours. And I couldnt get an appointment till MAY 2nd! OMG This is such a hassle.

That sucks! so you are to drive about without an alignment?

I know how that whole money bit goes. I already have... umm.. -opens the calculator- about 1700 sunk into Suspension.

Its the sway bar end links...they dont go bad or break. But they do get jacked up when you try to take them off... Im willing to bet that THEY messed them up trying to get them off because they do get rusted and you have to work them off very slowly. Those endlinks costs 50$ each and there is one on each side in the rear. This is one reason why i do all the work myself. You can do a spring install in about 4hrs with normal tools...and if you messed up the endlinks doing it then oh well at least you learned something.
