These look exelent, cuz they where made by the best way. But, just in case, while attaching the lens, you hade to remove all black glue, paint the housing silver including the place there the black glue was, and use clear silicone glue, this way would be NO black surrounding. Its a bit more work - but this way they could look as 2x better

Hi All.
Respect to doGGy and thanks for the compliment. My lenses are an exact copy of the originals - only crystal clear. They show all the marks from the mould the original orange lens was cast from.
So although they are near perfect, the housings were never designed to have clears fitted to them. With an orange lens, the colour of the black sealant is less seen as you see the orange colour of the lens reflected within itself(hope that makes sense.
So when you fit a clear lens, the black perimeter is unavoidable. The black sealant is thermo softening and could I guess be scooped out bit at a time after heating to about 100 deg C, digging out what you can, then as it cools, reheating and repeating the process. If you have the patience to do this, you could respray the recess (I have an almost chrome spray paint) and refit with a clear silicone - which I've got.
Only reservation is my stuff is more translucent than clear - I've never been able to find a water clear silicone. However with chromed recess, I think doGGy old chap, you might have a graet idea there.
Reservation 2) How many people apart from you and me would be prepared to do this? I'm an eccentric, obsessive, perfectionist lens maker - what about the regular enthusiast?
I only I'd read your post first, I could have been tempted try it on the set I did this morning -bugger!
May just have to buy another new set to try it out, the ones I've done I'll put on eBay as an advert for my product.
If you check out eBay.co.uk and my username 'protoprojects' you can see the feedback I've got on the Porsche products I've made.
Hopefully a few people will order a pair, as I've borne all the costs and done all the work myself to make these without any cash up front or comittment from any one.
Time for supper over here, so I'll catch up with you guys later.
Best Regards,
Richard
