I've finally got my 5sfe turbo kit and hopefully i'll be able to get on with the project soon. when my car's back from the body shop afew weeks later.... i've encountered a problem here... after i recieved the kit... it seems to me that there are alot of parts that's required to complete the kit.. and especially when i don't even know what i have and what i'm missing.. here are the pics of what i have now.. what else do i need to complete the kit?

right now.. the things that i know i'm missing's a FMIC, 2bar map sensor...what else would i need?

thanks in advace for the help guys. >biggrin.gif>

You have a map. I can see it. Please resize the pics though.

the small piping is for your oil. the small part is for the feed and the larger one is return. It should fit to the middle of your turbo.

Injectors look the wrong color though.

Flip it over....It looks to be a MAP

Member of Team 5sfTe
do you have a pic of how a map sensor should look like? i can't flip it over now cause i'm at work.. parts are at home.. will take pics of it flipped over tonite. >biggrin.gif>

Dammit shin, I wanted that kit. Was that the one on ebay? well im behind you, and hopefully I get to learn alot from watching you get it on. Please take pics of your install and have fun on the boost.
I don't mean to be a jerk, but if you have the kit, intend on installing it, yet have no idea what the parts are and why they are needed, you shouldn't be boosting your car. W/ a lack of knowledge you could easily F something up. So just do some heavy research b4 ur car gets back from the body shop

i hope i'll learn alot while installing this kit too madmods. >biggrin.gif> i didn't get this kit from ebay though, got it from acidbyte. 1bwilson, this is the pics you've requested it took a couple of angles so hope you'll be able to indentify the item better.

that looks like the MAP. Mine is from a mr-2 and is reversed on the mounting plate so it looks a bit different. Can anyone with a alltrac MAP please confirm this being a 185 MAP please?...... Shin like I said im very sure thats it.

Member of Team 5sfTe
cool.. so right now.. i do have a map.... SlowCelica94, i intend to get a mechanic to install it, right now. i wanna know what i actually have so i'll know how it works, i'm learning so i'll be able to do stuff in the future. so what other parts do i need now?

MSD BTM or something else to control the timing.

Member of Team 5sfTe
Shin,
Where are you in NYC? I am thinking about the same setup, can I visit your car during the project to learn stuff?

Tim
sure thing tim. i'm in manhattan, but my car's over in brooklyn now... getting repaired... 1bwilson, MSD BTM? isn't MSD for ignition? or am i wrong? cause if it's for ignition, i thought of getting the HKS twin power ignition module?

what brian is talking about is the MSD BTM it retards the timing a set amount for every pound of boost. >smile.gif>
you still need a bunch of little things, your gonna need to fab up a custom oil feed line ( check the 5sfte thread in the engine section for info on that)
can you get some nice clear pics of the injectors...getting the color right is the important thing, or you can just list the part # thats stamped on the side of it and i or someone else can check it for ya.
your gonna wanna use some type of FMIC so your gonna need the piping, couplers and clamps associated with that, as well...im sure ill keep thinking of things, ill list them as i think of them..lol >wink.gif>

that 185 map should have a green label on it and it should be in a circular form. i have both the alltrac 185 map and the 3sgte mr2 map. as far as the btm don't get it. it's not woth it. you can't even control fuel with it. just get a piggy back system.

Whenever you get a kit, I'll come over and help ya install it.

Have swapped my turbo a couple times, and am quite knowledgeable about all the parts and functions.
should i got with Denso IK22 or NGK BKR7EVX-11 plugs i was thinking the denso cus they seem like they have a good rep.

Also would i be fine jsut running new sparks and larger injectors or would i be looking to get a better fuel pump? Would a 255 lph be to large? lph stand for liter per hour right?

btw this is the best 5sfte thread. I think it should be stickied so that way all the 5sfte info is kept here. Plus it gives a good refrence on things and ppl doing the project.

Stick with the NGK...might go a step colder to 6, but either should be okay.

Get a Walbro 255lph (supra) fuel pump. You will run too lean if you do not.
is this what i'm suppose to get?

part number's MSD-6462 it's called the MSD 6-BTM CD Ignitions. presure2, i intend to get a Spearco intercooler, or if i have more money to spare, i'll get the BLITZ intercooler. piping wise, i'm looking around for places to custom them for me. are 2'5" ok? or is 3" better? i'll take pics of the injectors again, the seller replied my email saying that it's a direct replacement... but i just can't seem to identify what injectors they are. i'll post the part number after i take it down when i get home. thanks for all the help guys. >biggrin.gif>

Yep, you don't need to get that exact model, but its a good one if you can afford.

When designing you IC piping you always want the shortest, and smallest route. This will help tone down your turbo lag. I'd get the 2.5', some go as low as 2'. Theres a thread about this at the moment:
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=21986

Make sure you feed line is -3, and return is -12 with a minimal bend in the return line.

There are other things you might need down the road as well...
Performance Clutch
eventually...a tranny (hopefully w/ LSD)
PCV system w/ catch can
Boost Gauge
Lots of various tuning equipment
Thats the 6btm its a ignition along with a btm. That will work fine and is cheaper than using a msd 6a+ btm. If you dont want the ignition just get the reg btm.

Member of Team 5sfTe
i was gonna get the boost gauge soon. bought the blitz blm series pressure and temperature gauge like 2 weeks ago. where can i get the custom oil feed lines? so if this BTM is fine i'll go for this one. i'll keep that in mind erics1one when i'm getting the pipings. PCV system with catch can? what's that?

hahaha, RJB...you need to do a little research my friend...the BTM is not made to control fuel, thats not its purpose...its to RETARD TIMING somthing you NEED to do if you dont wanna blow up your engine, sooner or later. >wink.gif>

so the BTM retards timing, what does the piggy back do? are piggy backs like Greddy Emanage or AEM EMS ?

Positive Crankcase Ventilation = PCV

PCV Valve is on top of your valve cover and on the back side.
The side nipple sticking out of your valve cover is the crankcase vent.

The goal is to maintain a slight vaccum on the crankcase at all times. With forced induction and leaky seals this will not be the case (if your engine is in prime condition, your stock pcv system should do just fine). But if you start smoking at idle, etc, it may be from the oil leaking through the turbos seals or excessive gases venting from your crankcase.

If there is increased presure coming through the feed line, it can cause the oil to backup in your turbo. Once this happens your seals will be coked in the oil and will start to deteriorate. Over time oil will begin to leak past your seals.

^ correct me if I'm wrong on that

Heres what I did with my PCV system. I smoked quite a bit at red lights and other stops, but after changing my system to this, it eliminated the problem completely.

greddy emanage is a piggyback. aem ems is a full stand alone engine management system.
safc = piggyback
IMO the perfect power SMT-6 is a better choice than the emanage. more control with the SMT-6
basicly a piggyback is any kinda of unit that works with your stock ECU, by intercepting the incoming signal, and modifying it so that the stock ecu thinks its doing somthing other than what it actually is. IE: on the 3s, the SAFC works basicly by intercepting the AFM signal, and modifying the signal so that the computer thinks theyre either more or less air then there actually is, depending on weather your adding or taking away fuel. it works the same way on the 5s, except it uses another signal instead of the AFM cause we dont have one >wink.gif>

wow...impressive.... but currently, i installed a breather filter on the crankcase vent. so i should take that out? where did you connect the other end of the tube to? the PCV valve?
