Here is my clock conversion. As you can see it's almost white in color, used the cover from a MR2 clock but anything you can find thats the same purple color should give the same result. Matches the stereo well too.

You have to pull out the bit around your gear stick, take out the two screws holding the bit around the climate control and stereo which the clock is attached to then i think it is four smaller screws on the clock.

Ok Gladys, lets play house, you be the door and I'll shut you.
Exactly.
Does anyone know if they make a red tic-tac container? I did the red clock mod a few years ago with some color samples from a paper company. They had various colors in the sample pack so I was able to mix and match about 5 sheets to get the exact red to match everything else in my car but even after cutting the green wire on the back of the clock it's a little hard to see on really sunny days. I think a red tic-tac container and just a few of the paper samples would work better.
Also did the gauges, key-ring, lighter ring and dome [LED] in red. Looks like a submarine under attack in there. LOL.
i used some of the clear colored cd cases for my clock and my stereo color mods. the others (keyring, climate, etc) with unvisible light sources i put colored paper areound the light, but not too close so it wouldnt burn. as long as it surrrounds all of the light's reflection it will work! for my guages at the time i have colored bulbs, but i am going to try somethin different when i get the hyper whyte LEDs im lookin at
hmmmm im thinking about this.....

i wonder if i can use a gel...

Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D
Man, that blue tic-tac box worked like a charm. Since i was painting the interior, i decided to change the clock color also.

I don't really think that would work. I guess I can try it. I don't really think there is any possible way to make white since it is the absence of color. Also in order to make blue it is impossible in my mind because it is a primary color...that is why I am confused as to how it was done.

I looked at my clock again and the clock display is the ugly green, don't see anyway to change that.

clear or white light is not the absense of color
True. White is all colors in the spectrum. But you can make it.
BTW - I did my blinkers recently. Tried using multiple things but ended up cutting the cap to a 20oz Coke Bottle into the right shape and it came out a nice deep red. Amazingly bright still too. Those Blinkers bulbs are the brightest ones in the car laugh.gif

Oh by the way, what do you use to paint everything? Like spray paint?

Hey guys,

Yeh use a good spray paint, preferably one for plastics.

Was just wondering, i used a red filter gel to make mine red (clock lights up green originally), works good at night, not visible in daylight as i have still to remove the tinted plastic facia. the reason is i wanna replace it with clear plastic so that it still has a factory feel to the clock/console (unless u take it apart and find the filter). does anyone know what i could do/use to get effectively as close to the plastic face i have but clear and not tinted?

the problem with making my own piece of plastic is the face curves, if i use a flexible plastic type thing the problem is getting it to stay in place, curved...

any ideas?

thanks
Hey every1......i know this is old and everything but this might help some of you.....i was looking 4 the blue tic-tacs that some of u were talking about and i couldn't find any at wallmart.....so i came home with this box that u can find in the office stuff dept for about $0.50......so i gave it a try and i couldnt be more happy......
it's a little bent(fits right in there) and it matches my gauges exactly biggrin.gif

the lighting gels work the best...its what they are made for....go to your local music / sound store that carries speakers and lighting stuff ...and they should have them.
I raed this last night and tried it this morning.......took me 5 hours............. laugh.gif

but i finally got it:

look i am going for blue celica and i did what most people did take the amber piece out and put a folder tab and yes experienced the same problem of putting one blue will still look green what i did is that i used a red and blue together mixed and in the end turned out to be blue.... the only down of this procedure is that the light is not as bright as before so at day u may have difficulty trying to see the clock but i dont mind at night looks sweet
