I'm looking for a Rear End off a Gt-Four to fit my Buddy's 96 Celica Gt Convertable. If anyone has any knowledge of finding one of these, please lemme know.
My Twins!
Why are you fitting a rear axle (or read end?) of a GT4 onto a vert?
maybe he's tryin to do a conversion to a gt4 convert
When I drop the 3sgte In I'm gonna try go do an AWD conversion. If i wasn't doing that, I'm not that retarted to buy a GT-4 rear end and do nothing with it. Hoping to do the conversion around winter time. If anyone has any Idea on where to get one..lemme know

any importer should be able to help you. Jarco Inc has a good reputation. See the "sticky" at the top of the engine forum entitled "feasible engine swaps".

good luck with the awd conversion
Easier said then done...
NOTE: You might wanna try looking into possibly fitting the older RAV4's drivetrain/rear-end... which is said to be very similar to the ST205. I do believe the older RAV4's were built off of the 6th gen Celica chassi...

Im looking to purchase lagos things to do this conversion. Once I get started with the conversion, I'll keep all you posted with pictures and thing's like that. Also would a GT-4 hood fit on a convertable??? I dunno if it would be too narrow or what...

You know how much a GT-4 hood would cost?

Yea, I do. Because I have searched for that very same question. Also, there is a "sticky" on the topic in the Exterior Styling forum that says something like GT4 front end. Off the top of my head, its about $400 for just the hood part and then another $200-300 for the remaining parts. By the way, this website has a very useful search function that will lead you to most of the answers your looking for. The regular contributors are, of course, here to help but you will get many better answers if its obvious you have done your homework.
One more thing. The AWD conversion has been discussed many, many times. Most of the time, it is brought up by someone new to the site. To our knowledge, it has been done once successfully by someone in south florida. The consensus is that it is a very difficult conversion which requires fairly sophisticated fabrication skills. If you have them or know someone that does, that is very very cool and we all say "best of luck." If its an unresearched pipe dream, our best advice is to move on and look for other worthy mods to support the facination we have with these cars.
Welcome to the site.
Jay.

The problem with the internet is that it is sometimes difficult to tell HOW a guy is saying something in a post. I was honestly trying to help the guy out and not flame him. This is backed up by the fact that I gave some simple advice in two earlier posts of the thread. Nevertheless, I just read again what I wrote and I recognize that I could have said it better. Interestingly, one of my first questions on this site was whether the 5th gen hood would fit our cars. As you might guess, I was flamed and I didn't like it.
That said, the fact that he doesn't know whether the 6th gen. GT4 hood fits our cars doesn't bode well for his AWD conversion project. Also, others might have noticed he is only asking about sourcing the rear axel for his project despite the fact that he needs to source the tranny, the front axels and other parts too. Call me a skeptic, but I have my doubts about whether PIMPSTAR will complete this project.
So, PIMPSTAR, I apologize if that sounded harsh. It wasn't meant that way. I wish you the best of luck. We all have to start somewhere. My previous thread had two points designed to help you out: (1) The most productive place to start your research is the search button; and (2) Don't underestimate the difficulty of the AWD conversion. I hope you find those two points helpful.

Ok, I'm throwing this all on the table right now. I dont own a Celica. I own an Rx-7. I'm only looking for these things because that's what he wants done and I'm just the person to do it. All it is that I'm just tryn' to help out a friend. I've found a FULL GT-4 conversion that were looking into purchasing. This winter will come with great fabrications. Not just on my own car, but his too! I dont understand why I would be getting "flamed" about something that I really dont do. I'm just needing help on finding things for a GT-4 because I know that there a lil hard to find in the US. I've meet some nice people on this site to help me for these findings. So take it as you want if you call this a "kill" but it will be done. It'll take time but we'll get it done.

just so you know, your gonna need the ST-205 suspension to even attempt this on a 6th gen...remember, lagos?? >

So the conversion that lagos has will not fit my friends Celica? Is it because It's an older model and that's It's more narrower???

everyone has an opinion on this topic and here is what i came up with after talking a look at the awd parts i have and all doing all my reasearch.
making the fwd celica into awd is not a simple bolt on. you will have to remove the gas tank and relocate it (use a racing fuel cell). next you will have to weld a bracket in place to bolt the rear diff to. after that, you should be able to use the st185 suspention on the car.
from all the gt4 pics i have done, i believe that the st185 awd did not change at all in the st205 GT4. only things that were upgraded were the brakes, rotors and suspention on the new gt4.... but you should still be able to use st185 parts for the conversion.

99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =)
never you accauly completed that awd conversion? i never heard you did that i understand you had problems but damn i never new you did that. i just thought you thought it cost a ridiculous amount of money and time and you scratched the idea.
anyway thats tight
hows it taste motha f*cka
i do have a question though, if you have a gt4 and took out the fron drive axels to make it RWD would it push all the power to those wheels or would it only get like half the power??

Hey, Im sorry that I didn't respond lately but like my computer crashed and I tryed to make an earlier reply today but I guess that it didn't like to work. lagos, If you were tryn' to E-Mail me earlier and it didnt go through it was because my aunt deleted my account. But I understand the AWD conversion. It would be pretty sweet to do it but it would be pretty damn hard to do. Currently I'm doing the bodywork to the Celi. I got rid of those teeth that are in the center grill. I tryed to use Bondo but I realized that didn't work due to the fact that I used the wrong stuff. But the fuel Cell, Would you have to cut a hole in the rear trunk to place it in correctly like RWD cars? But 3S-GTE swap will also hopefully be done this winter. My friend still wants to do that AWD conversion. So if anyone has any pictures on the specific modifications are can I please get them so I can take a gander to see what I'm getting myself into?

It can be done.
I has been done.
Is it worth it?
For show, may be
For performance, NO.
You will have unstable car.
Otherwise, the guy in S. Florida wouldn't put it on eBay.
I guess he was just trying to cut his loss.
But that's just my guess.
