gary it has been done but even neverstop took his off. i wouldent trust that car on ebay, so many things could go wrong out of nowhere.
IMO it can be done and safely.....but only to ruffly 100 mph
so ideally i'd only do this for the intentions of drift competition
but drag would probably be another story.....
if you take the time measure everything 100% perfect and 100% level then you will have a safe piece of equipment provided the welds, connections...ect. are good
wow, lets put it this way, if you want an awd car, just go buy one thats awd.. then mod it.. simple as that.. an if your to in love with the looks of the celi, witch most everyone here is ... just deal with not having it..
DamDirtyApes, your sitting here bustin my chops and you dont know anything about cars? I do have a shop were I can do this at also (if need be). I have multiple friends that has done AWD conversions...Just not to a Celi. So if we do end up doing this, it will be done. It just wont be a 2 person project. So my knowlede of cars is pretty good...So if we do go through with this. We can make it possible and it is for the purpose of drift...

"there are so many people on this site that are so smart when it comes to cars. if it was a thing that could be done, it would of have been done many times over"

lol...honestly....and i dont mean to flame anyone or doubt their abilities.....but the celica comunity is not very mechanicaly inclined. part of the reason is that we own such realiable cars, that they give us very little reason to pop the hood.

take a look at some DSM sites one day. those cars have their fair share of issues, and end up turing everyone into great mechanics. there are even guys there who swap 4g63s into Colts and make them awd and other crazy projects.

sweet your doing my idea >smile.gif> DRIIIIIIIIFFFFFFT awesome i love it.....
i always wanted to see a 6gc on the drift circuit....
too bad its you and not me >frown.gif>
after your little swap it would be easier to just buy a full clip of a gt4 and weld teh back end on to your friends celi. i mean the cars not going to be that safe anyway so why not just do an easier job.

hows it taste motha f*cka
Talk about beating a dead horse...

and player158: drifting puts more strain on the rear suspension and drivetrain than going fast... just so you know.

Umm... hmm... where to start. Maybe I'll cut it short today. Can be done and can be done safely and correctly, but for a price tag most people wouldn't pay. All depends on your wallet (or pocket-book as some foreigners call it). It's the sort of project you DON'T want to take any short-cuts on and DEFINATELY DO NOT do anything cheap. I personally have spent long hours examining the rear of the Celica... and do think it can be done with the proper parts, fabrication, and reinforcment... however, only those who are 100% sure they must finish should even start... and you better know your stuff when it comes to balancing driveshafts, setting up correct points for suspension parts, etc...

good luck...

I think first were diong the Engine swap but im not 100% on that. I gotta talk to my buddy. But I understand the things dealing with the AWD conversion. I know people that have done AWD conversions before. So she and a few of my other buddy's would help me if I run into a perdiciment.

TO every one out there that say the GT4 sawp is show & no go! the guy that did the sawp in suoth Florida I know the guy; the reason he is selling the car is be cause he want's a Supra. he's want to keep up with the 8&900HP big boy down here. the car did 12 at moroso @132.?? the swap was done fine, the only bad thing is to do a sawp like his it will cost $6000!!!
and I talk to the tech that did the swap. it tock about 12hrs if you have the right tech, right parts & someone that can fabricate you should not have a problem. the GT4 was done a month before I bought my Celica. If i can get all the parts & money (your dame strate ) I'm gonna do the swap. I know all the best fabricater down here so geting it done is not a problem! the things I seen done by these guys down here it's the Go Fast Monster Garage
