i jsut bought 2 12inch sony xplode 1200 watts each subs i wanted to know what anyone recommends for an amp,,, should i get the 1000 xplode amp or the 800watt amp from sony
First off, I recommend going with an amp that isn't from Sony. My friends haven't had good luck with their Sony Xplod amps.

Also, how much power do the subs handle RMS? And what impedance are they?

New Toyota project coming soon...
Chances are thoes subs dont handel NEAR 1200 watt rms... so judge your amp off of that, and as coomer said, my friends hated their sony amps as well.
I just bought 1 10 inch sony sub(the 1100 max one).
I have it bridged to 2 OHMS with a jensen amp(running 100watts RMS and 400 Max) and it rules! one of these 10's plays louder than the 2 Rockfords I have! >biggrin.gif>

People have had bad luck with the amps though, but there is a new model at Best Buy....It's black....they look sweet.....but I don't know if they're good.

If you push the subs at or close to peak power they will Blow, the 12's are 350 Watts RMS so get a 2 channel that puts out 600-800 or 1000 at the MOST.

Even then THey will make your ears BLEED >biggrin.gif> >tongue.gif>

Coomer your info:10's:300RMS, 12's:350RMS
they are 4OHMS single voice coil.
i dont know about the amps, but most of the sony car stereo products ive seen/used are nice... but they only have a life of like 1 and a half years before they break...
thanks u guys does any one recommend a particular brand amp to get.. and wut type of capasitor do i need? 1 fared or more?? plus should i get a higher volt battery so that the subs dont drain it all?
Interfire

they are cheap which is good. Also, I have one and I am extremly satisfied. Arc is also bad ass. Look them up you'll see.

peace out,
William

Sony's mobile audio sucks, period. Their older Mobile ES series was good, but other than that they break down easily, their build quality is trash, and their sound quality doesn't compare even to Audiobahn (using a well known, decent manufacturer for ease of comparison). I would suggest what Coomer has suggested. JBL makes good products, as they are reliable, have a good crossover slope, and give almost exactly their stated output.
I like MTX.
DONT GET ALPINE WHATEVER YOU DO. So expensive, yet the power kicks off every so often. Obviously you'd want the thing to be constant flow of power so the sound is good. LOL
