My clutch sticks.... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #9712 10 posts Started by LatinKraze
Dammit!! First I find out i need new struts, then i ruin my turn signals trying to clear them out, next....My clutch starts to stick. What is going on? Has this happened to anyone??

I was at a light, I shift to first as soon as it turns green and my clutch wont disengage. It stays sunk in the whole way. So im stuck in first goin 5-10 mph and pull over. I hit my breaks till i come to a complete stop and my car stalls. I stick my hand down and yank the clutch back up. I proceed to drive a gain and i get stuck in first gear again. Same process. Instead of taking off in first, i take off in second. Everything seems fine. I shift to third, fourth and so on. The problem comes when i try and start from first gear. I feel the clutch got stickier throughout the rest of the gears. Any recomendations? Where can i start?? I need your help guys and gals. >frown.gif>
Only happens in first? I would consider your tranny as a possible cause? I wont even try and guess but Im sure someone will know. But I dont get it, your peddle is stuck in? yet your driving in gear? Something doesnt sound right about that? Id take it somewhere and have it checked out.
I guess imma take it to the mechanic tomorrow. Anything else i can do? Anyone? I have that feeling in my stomach like im very sad. >frown.gif>

I talked to a few of my friends...sounds like i need a new clutch. Damn money soaking car. Im gettin mad at all this damn money i have to spend.
If it's sticking, maybe something's wrong with your master and slave cylinder.
If it's sticking in gear, the clutch isn't the problem. It's more than likely the clutch master cylinder. Especially from the description you gave about having to pull up the pedal(the pedal staying on the floor). I'd say a new cylinder and your good to go. Won't be too cheap, but it's cheaper than a clutch.
had the exact same problem and i just replaced the slave cylinder and it was fixed it wasn't to expensive or time consuming either.
Well, i went to the shop today. (My baby is in there right know). It sure was the master cylinder....$595 total to fix. They are also gonna fix my oil leak.
whoa whoa just fix the slave cylinder first its like 30$ and easy to change if that doesn't fix it then replace the master. 600 bucks seems kinda steep.
well, $245 to replace the master cylinder and get new lines. $350 for new seals, gaskets, and to stop an oil leak behind the pulleys(not sure this is the place but its where the bealts are located)
