Several people have told me that they've heard Toyota is going to start production of a new GT-4 that will be available in the states. I don't know when, and I don't know if these rumors are true. Anyone else heard anything?
New GT-4 in the states? - 6G Celicas Forums
Yeh I have heard rumors for a while now about a Turbo Celica being released, but I have been hearing that for about a year now and still have not seen any proof. I think they will though soon, because Mitsubishi is comming out with there new Turbo Eclipse, Honda has the new CRX thing, Mazda has the Mazda 3's? maybe they are called 5's. But I pray for one, I wont sell my celica to get one, but it'll still be cool to see one.

I could see them releasing maybe a turbo 4wd matrix, but i doubt celica.

They'll probably just put the 180 horse 2zz in the AWD matrix and call it the "track monster fast and furious edition"
Did you guys see the new Rolla' with that engine? I was thinking "ok Toyota, time for a new platform." But I guess they do have scion don't they. Did any body say wrong direction yet?
Sorry.=back hurting making me irritable.

they will not be putting out an AWD turbo celica for quite some time. I talked to a toyota research developer the other day, and he informed me that they will be sticking with the 1.5L engine in the echo and scion xA and xB, the 2.4 in the tC, and the 2zzge in the 00-04 celica GTS for quite some time. They won't be bringing back the 3sge due to emissions, and their future plans for the celica are to discontinue it, give it more power, or simply redesign it for visual appeal.

well technically the matrix is AWD (kinda) so wouldnt the drive train from a 6th gen GT4 be fabricated to fit on a matrix. the only major problem i might see with that swap is where the shifter will be?

i am awesome
What you are probably hearing about its the latest Caldina(read:Matrix) turbo. Its taken over the name of GT-Four. Though it doesnt deserve it, those things are bloody ugly.
And isnt the RS200 altezza still being produced? because that is equiped with the 3SGE...

Does anybody know what the "supercar" Toyota is going to be releasing. I read somewhere that Nissan is releasing the skyline in the US to combat this "supercar".
Yeah, cept the Celica is leaving the Toyota family soon so eh.

Read previous information on this forum. Not only did I hear from a Toyota exec about 6 or 7 months ago and posted, but XE_Nathaniel posted verfified information that it be dropped soon...
So lemme quote your post and say, don't try to correct people that are right.
EDIT
Added proof...

The current GT-FOUR badge is on the Caldina,
It wouldn't suprise me if they drop the Celica, it has never been seriosuly supported here anyway, Toyota can eat my ass.
The MR2 Spyder will be discounted after this year for sure.
All toyota is doing is capturing the mass market appeal. Its been going down hill for some time now.
No more WRC, instead there's NASCAR and NASTRUCK... effen rednecks.
If i wasn't financially stuck with my GT-FOUR project (not that its a terrible thing) I would get a RSX Type S, or a Sentra Spec-V, or a Dodge Neon. Toyota is going mainstreme and thats great but i've lost almost all intrest in their product.
Next thing we know, they will discontinue the IS300 and i will really be screwed.

Well it's not a surprise the celica is gone since the average age of a Toyota owner is 46.
So nobody knows about Toyota's "supercar".
