Personal Review of Your 6g Celica - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #96212 10 posts Started by Oreo20
I've seen reviews on blue book and so for but I would like to hear what others in this community have to say about the car
So let me hear it
Here's mine
Year : 1994
TRIM: Gt
Gear box : Manual
Miles : 172,051

My first car and I'll keep driving it till the doors fall off
I drive it every day and it hasn't let me down since I've gotten it 3 years ago
It does suck that i have to change old parts to new parts but hey I love the car and its part of the maintance cycle . Though it doesn't have a lot of power it's a good mpg saver . And I like the fact that it's so unique and rare out here that you'll have people staring looking at the unusual little car ☺️
Future plans for it
Bigger wheels 18's
Full exhaust
Sand and paint !!!

instead of 18" wheels, invest in an engine swap.

Agreed.

JDM Part King
See no point of 18" wheels, but thats me. Engine swap would net the best cost of investment. Suspension upgrades are nice too....
Depends on what your after. Either way its not cheap to do it right....unless you have a hook up somewhere.
From someone with 18's, get 17's if you're really set on new wheels.

Personal Review:

Exterior - Beautiful, timeless curves. Could be more aerodynamically efficient, but can't complain with 31 mpg
Interior - Has everything you need to know wassup with your car. Could use more comfortable seats, more sound dampening, and a low tire pressure sensor. Excellent visability.
Drivetrain - does the job, gets around everything you need to, makes good use of it's 2.2. Tranny is a bit stagy and hangs a bit, but it's an economy set up so you know what to expect.
Overall - Would buy again if it had better seats. 8/10

Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)The world is moving around a sun, the sun moves around a local arm of the galaxy, the local arm of the galaxy moves around a gigantic black hole.
Don't have mines anymore but had quite a few in the past (94', 94', 95', 99'). My last one had quite a few things done to it.

Pros:
-beautiful exterior curves
-interior
-peppy and reliable 2.2 (good for normal everyday driving)
-not tech-y at all, just the way i like it
-handling was good
-upkeep was easy and straightforward
-Toyota reliability

Cons:
-engine was not designed to get pushed. Toyota could've shoved in the BEAMS engine for 96-99 kindasad.gif
-throws are long (ss fixes it)
-noisy interior (hatch)
-very LIMITED aftermarket parts

Overall, has great potential (swaps, etc). Stock form serves its purpose awesomely.
1995 GT, 5sfe mated with a s54. 133k miles.

Pros:
-Fun to drive when up to speed, especially on mountain roads.
- Exterior is beautiful
- 99% of the interior is nice
- Easy to work (maintenance)

Cons:
- 5sfe, even worse, 7afe. Why we (USA) didn't get AT LEAST the 3sge is beyond me. (1mzfe from factory would've been nice)
- That 1% interior detail, cup holders. I rarely use it but when I do....horrible placement.
- stock Wheel specs. Rear wide body with 205's....
- After market support for the FWD chassis.

Personal Review:

Year : 1997
TRIM: ST hatchback
Gear box : Auto
Miles : 207,000 miles

My first car, fell in love with it and still driving it today.
7a with auto sucks and is really slow but MPGs FTW. 30+ mpg all the time so I can't complain too much.
suspension was crap for a while until I put coils in but cornering was always fun with this car. steering is nice and easy. ride was comfortable. noise level could use some help but that's due to it being a hatchback. Seats hug you really well compared to the 7th gen seats I have in it now.
The styling of this car was ahead of it's time. curves for days and luxurious interior. no fake plastics and cheap hollow parts.
Very reliable. Never gave me any problems whatsoever. trusty and dependable.

PROS:
-stylish
-sleek
-somewhat rare
-easy to maintain
-fuel efficient
-everyone thinks it's a supra

CONS:
-slow
-aftermarket support is in Japan
-7afe is not the right engine for this car
-door rust is almost inevitable
-cabin noise
-everyone thinks it's a supra
