Basically I'm planning on doing some kind of engine swap with in a year either v6 or 3sgte haven't decided anyway 3rd gear grinds what's the odds right lol. I already flushed fluid ect. Finding a low mileage 5sfe s54 transmission isn't the easiest but I can find 3sge transmissions very easily and cheap. So million dollar question is will the s54 transmission from a 3sge work on my 5sfe and either v6/3sgte later on. I searched the threads and all I found was the 3sge s54 had a longer 5th gear than 5sfe and something about one has more teeth than the other. Can anyone confirm this is true and would the 3sge transmission work for me? I hope so they seem to be cheap n very easy to find. Already found a few 40-50k miles around 500$

any S series transmission from a celica will work. If you go to an E series then you need a hybrid clutch because the input shaft on the trans is bigger and has larger splines. this is all documented on my V6 thread.
