rear fog light switch wiring - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #95083 16 posts Started by match220
I got my switch in today from The_enD and it has 8 wires. I opened it up and there is a little circuitboard inside, so I don't want to start probing with my ohm-meter. I can't find a wire diagram for the rear fogs and I don't see a section for the Euro models in bgbonline at celicatech.

thanks batman! I found an old post from about the same time talking about the rear fogs, but they didn't mention the switch or the wiring.

Greeting to Hawaii smile.gif. Mate, the thing is EU modes has rear fog light wiring as part of whole car wiring harness. So all wires are already in the car mixed with other wires. If you want have the rear fog light and you do not have EU model (as US models don't) you simply need to take some wire and route it through the car from dash where switch is placed to the trunk. Simple circuit. Switch + bulbs + battery. No rocket science. That is why nowhere it is described in details. Only deal is to place those bulbs right (and that is described in topic Batman shared with you).

No more replicas... This is evolution... This isSS-four:)________[Featured Celica of 6gc.net @ 2010]_________

Thanks for the response! I'll be wiring it into my front fog lights since I'm finally mounting some. I won't be running rear fog lights. I've thought about it but we wouldn't have much of a need for it here (never see fog)

ha ha ha (sarcastic laugh)...lol smile.gif Funny guy. But having a GTFour bumper with a place for fog lights and none installed looks a little strange

I still don't have anything hooked up to it, waiting to redo the front end.

I like the information that you put into the thread. My question now is...there are 3 ground wires, are all of them ground all the time or are some of them ground switched? Meaning it would trigger something operated by ground, like the cluster light.

I'm actually interested in this as well. I have a rear fog switch and was planning on wiring my fronts into it too

do you have the 4 pin one or the 8 pin one? Apparently there are two different switches. I'll figure it out hopefully.

Can't remember, I'll have to check when I'm home. Did the 8 pin come on newer models?

4 pin - mechanical ( basic on / off )
8 pin - electric

The other thread that Batman posted has descriptions of the pinouts. One of the grounds is for the illumination and the other two are for the rear fogs. I think they are there to only allow the rear fogs to go on when the headlights and front fogs are on. I didn't get too much into it as I'm planning on using it for front fog lights.

You know why I have installed front fog lights? Because front bumper looks better with them biggrin.gif. The rear is different thing here sure but front once I really have just because of design reasons wink.gif.

yeah, I've been in some pretty bad fog and did fine without fog lights. I've never installed them because I needed them. They just look cool. And my GTFour bumper is crying out for some with its blank fog light holes
