I'm having a friend do this with me and he has done this to his car as well. Im planning on buy all felproof gaskets, but im not sure if I should pay more to get Toyota gaskets. I have my stock 7afe that just needs new rods, and I have a jap 7a in my car right now, so I rather get oem gaskets for my stock 7a, depending on how much they are. Does anyone know oem price on 7a gaskets?

i will tell you this once. DO NOT GET FELPRO GASKETS! they are not OEM quality, I dont care what other people say. Im sure i have built way more engines that others. get OEM. and if you are building a 7A, read my guide in the stickies, it will help

It just depends on the type of gasket. Fel-pro is good as far as any aftermarket supplier goes. BUT, there are a lot of original gaskets that're layered metal, and the only way to get them usually is to buy from the stealership. Generally a good rule of thumb is that for important gaskets like the head-gasket, water pump, oil pump, etc... go OEM. Generally things that if the gasket fails it causes big problems/headaches. Small things like the thermostat, throttle body, etc... the aftermarket suppliers are fine.

i agree nothing beats OEM, its just for some people, Price vs Quality is always the decision.
