performance ecu? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #94981 6 posts Started by 97limitedgt
I was wondering if any of you guys run any performance aftermarket ecu? do they sell them for our celica or would i have to send the stock one in for a tune?
Yes there is reflashed ecus/plug in for the ST202 & ST205 only (for gen 3 3S-GE & 3S-GTE), these aren't retuneable unless you have the controller for input like Tom's controller & tuning software. Which only they have in Japan.

You'd probably have better luck with a 'stand alone' ECU like from AEM, or Pro EFI or something. I don't know who makes for the 6th gen Celica though.

DIYAutotune has one of the best affordable ECUs available for just about any application. (megasquirt 3 preffered, nothing less)

Haltech Sprint 500 ECU is also a good option.

Whichever you choose, make sure you take the car in to someone that knows what they're doing when installing it.

I run an Autronic SM4, I love it! I've had it for years. Echoing Syaoran, Haltech makes great stuff also, I've loved everything that I've used of theirs. There are no EMSs that I know of that are plug-n-play for our Celicas though and there isn't a way to tune the stock one to my knowledge.

Having it reflashed by Japanese company (tom's, imec Biltz etc) or there is the LINK ecu G4 which is plug n play.

Ask around your local tuning shops which ecu's they tune / feel comfortable tuning. Hard to get a good results with tuning software they aren't familiar with.
