Last night I was driving home, and when I was pulling up to a red light I shifted the car into neutral (manual) and the rpm's actually went up without my foot on the gas. The engine revved to about 3K and just stayed there until I put my foot under the pedal and lifted it up. After the light changed and I started driving again, it revved up and idled at 3k again. It never passes 3k, but I could pretty much drive the car without my foot on the gas until I lift the pedal back up. Any ideas about this?

I hope u dont make a habit of putting it into neutral, creates more wear and tear on tranny

Just drove the car again, check the throttle cable and nothing seems irregular. The car drove fine, until I shifted to 4th at 30mph and pressed the pedal to the floor, after that, the rpms stayed high again. I had the battery off yesterday, and my dad said it could have something to do with the idle learn. Thanks for the help guys
check for vacuum leaks.
