disable auto roll-down window? - 6G Celicas Forums

So does anybody know if there's a way to disable the auto roll-down when you hit the switch on the drivers side so that it would just work only when you've actually got your finger on the button?

Mine has two positions it works. First click rolls down until you stop, second rolls down all the way. It's yours the same?

With mine it will stop if you only bump it shortly, but if you hold it more than 2 sec it auto rolls down all the way. Its just a rocker kind of switch it doesn't 'click'

If someone doesn't suggest a solution you can invest in a different switch.

I'll have to take the door apart and get a closer look at it

is it possible to get the auto-roll function like on the drivers side, on the passenger side ?
I'm wondering now if it is just a function of the switch. If so, that would mean that you could just put a driverside switch in the passenger side. But I haven't paid close attention to the switch when I took the door apart last time it may be one big switch assembly on the driver side, but it might be separable pieces.
Or maybe it's supposed to be a two position switch like End said, but mine is worn out. And then I wonder if the European ones are different than mine. Really my problem is that the tint on the driver side is peeling and if I let the window go all the way down its going to catch and rip more of it. I should just spend the $20 and get some new tint.

Also, on mine if while it's automatically going down if you click it to go up it stops immediately.

Mine works like that but what happens is I mean to just bump the window a bit while I'm partially distracted by something else and then it auto rolls down and I don't quite get my finger back on it before it gets all the way down.
Its just annoying

I think it would be attached to the window motor, not the switch.

No need to, just take a flat head screwdriver and pop that ellipse shaped part at the bottom (be gentle so you don't crack the plastic)... From there on out you just unplug the wiring and take the thing apart. But beware, most of these switches have springs inside them that will pop out of there as soon as you open the switch. Spent quite some time searching for these springs all over the room myself...

But then as The_enD mentioned, you should have two switch positions for rolling down the driver's window - the first is manual (just a gentle push), the second is auto (full push). Never found a problem with this, even more - I'd like to have the same function on my passenger's side.

hmmm, mine must have been smashed on for 20 years by the previous owners. Maybe Ill just be on the lookout for a replacement when they get a 6gc at the pick-n-pull.
the last one I saw was a ratty ST, but it had good interior panels.
