Which Coolant Temperature Sensor to Buy - 6G Celicas Forums

Hi, I have a 1995 Toyota Celica ST, and I need to replace the Coolant Temperature Switch. I already purchased one from amazon, but even though amazon said it's the right fit it was clearly not compatible when I received it.

For most parts I buy online I go to rockauto.com. Many times they even have the factory Toyota brand to choose from and it will cost less than it would at O'Reilly .
Keep in mind there is a difference between the sensor(sender that goes to the gauge, and the sensor that goes to the computer.

Coolant temperature-

Switch = for the fan relays
Sender = for the Temp guage on the cluster
Sensor = for the ecu and EFI


If you were throwing a code, you needed the coolant sensor not the coolant switch. The coolant switch threads into the lower radiator and turns the cooling fans on or off.

Ah, my pic got messed up sorry! It is the sensor/switch that connects to the engine block right where the upper radiator tube hits the engine. I really like buying from amazon, here is the list of options I'm not sure about at Amazon

well you're picking from the same brands whether you get it on amazon or rockauto. just be sure you pick the right motor, the ST is 1.8L and the GT is 2.2L
maybe that's what did?

Hey, when I set my motor type I still get many options and don't know which to choose. Can you like link to 2 or 3 alternatives that will fit my ST, Amazon filter is not perfect and I already made a mistake, hoping someone will help.

Like I said, you need a coolant sensor, it is not the same part as a coolant switch
