New Toyota project coming soon...
1/4 MILE TIMES IS WHAT WINS A RACE
DOSENT MATTER IF ITS ON THE STREET OR NOT!
NOT 0-60
ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN COULD TELL YOU THAT!
btw speedtoe put words into my mouth
i never said anything about driver skill at all
and no i didnt contradict myself im jsut saying that 1.4 mile time takes more skill because inorder to get a good 1.4 mile time you need a good 0-60 time as well..

well, i agree with spedtoe, but I think part of the reason our 0-60 isnt so great(in teh gt) is because our 2nd gear is only able to bring the car to 55mph, so if our powerband was a little higher and the red line was pushed back a little the car would have a better 0-60 time. simply because we could reach 60mph w/out shifting a second tome into 3rd gear. So in that aspect, the 0-60 speed dosent bother me, but it does still matter in a race

they both matter, ****, because, you don't know where your gonna stop in a street race, they are both arbitrary measurements of speed when compared to an unmeasured street race
what a stupid argument

CAN WE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET BACK TO BEST 1/4 MILE TIME RUNS!!

Ok, Speed toe is so right!!
integra_killer, you may be right for only the 1/4 mile, but [B]IF YOU REALLY THINK ABOUT IT, does the 1/4 mile matter as much when you are coming out of a hairpin corner or even just a regular turn. I would be more worried about my acceleration out of the turn.
THE ONLY RACES THAT PROBABLY WILL HAVE 1/4 MILE TIMES TO MATTER IS THE 1/4 DRAG RACING. AND EVEN THAT NEEDS THE 0-60 BECAUSE IT MEANS YOU CAN GET TO 60MPH FASTER THAN OTHERS DEPENDING ON HOW GOOD OF A DRIVER YOU ARE.
And for RWD, AWD, and FWD, if a RWD has a better off the line traction then your FWD, then you got to use your skills as a driver to accomodate for the traction problem. KNOW when to shift, KNOW why its a traction problem, USE YOUR SKILLS AS A DRIVER to out drive the RWD. However, if you know what car you are going to race and you know the 0-60 times, then you can figure out if you can win or not in a street race which technically doesn't have to be 1/4 mile. It can be roll on race on the highway or a shorter distance light to light, or on a mountain pass, etc.
BUT REALLY think about it, if traction is a concern for you with 0-60 times, remember that you can get a LSD. But my concern would be more on what the guy next to me has in his engine bay, and not if his traction is good. Because if he is really going to race like for say money, he's got to know how to control his traction or he's got a damn good tranny.
Skills has to do WITH everything, drifthing needs skills, shifting needs skills, knowing not to race a faster car is smart and skillful. Unless its just for fun...

1/4 mile is bogus... try taking a 1/4 mile then making a right hander into turn one... thats F***ing racing... 1/4 mile is for hot rodders.
and BTW... you arent going to get many 1/4 mile times out of a bunch of 6gc owners, cuz they realize the car isnt ment for a dragstrip. those who do probably just went for an open track day to have some fun. there are very few, if any, purpose built 6gc cars for streight line. its either autox, or cruisin... mainly cruisin, which is what is so fun to do in a great looking under powered automobile.

So far my best has been a 13.32. Thats with the orginal turbo setup. I have a hybrid ct26 on my car now, so hopefully next time i get down the strip i will be close to,if not in, the 12's
W/O swap or turbo most celica 1/4 miles are poor even with a great driver. But the best mod you can ever do is learn how to drive the car. I never took mine to the track out of dissapointment of the time.

My 0-60 is probably better than alot of GT's that are manuals with same type of mods as I have because I have that upgraded torque converter, and my 2nd gear goes to 75. I think my 0-60 according to the G-Tecvh thingy (the windshield mount thingymabobber) is like low 8 somethin. anyways, 1/4 mile times...
Celi has it's best of 16.5 at the track one day. If I can find the slip in the glove compartment, I'll scan it.
