Just purchased some headers off ebay, engine is a 2.2 5sfe. What's a good way to bypass the cel? Tune, or others?

Header*

I'm not 100% sure because I just had the shop that was doing my exhaust do the header as well, but I think as long as you have the O2 sensors plugged in you shouldn't get a CEL

what header did you get? does it have the bung for the O2 sensor?

(manza) and yes looks like there is a bung for the O2 sensor.

Are you OBDI or OBDII? Also are you Cali emissions or Federal?

I mean you could try un-plugging it. I did that for my dual o2 sensor setup on my Cali emissions and it didn't throw a CEL.

Quick question. Do I need to remove the alternator to remove the stock manifold? Or should I be fine? On the 5th Gen my friend had to move the alternator a bit.

No to put the header on you just have to take the heat shield off and the header is going to hang once you get all the bolts off but just kinda move it over to the right and it should slide right off once you clear the studs at least that's how I changed mine.

i think i has to take tension off the alternator belt, remove the belt, then rotate the alternator up to get enough clearance to a stud bolt. I didnt have to take it off, but i had to move it up out of the way

Bummer, I didn't want to do that. Hopefully I'll get away with out moving the alternator.

Update: I got away without touching the alternator…just took a little bit of creativity. And it's running great with the 2nd (bottom o2 sensor unplugged) just left the bolt in there that it came with and torqued it. Pretty easy install if you have the right tools.

I thought I had a similar problem..wouldn't quite fit right at first with the given o2 sensor gasket…had to re-use the old one to make it work.

If the downstream O2 sensor throws a code, you can buy an O2 sensor emulator online. It will plug into the O2 sensor pigtail and provide a simulated reading for a properly functioning sensor and catalytic converter. It can illegally get you through emissions.
