Im sure you can find more but this is what i found with craigslist for about 5 minutes, hope it helps your search a little bit

Cleavland.. Like i stated before I have already looked on craigslist and continue to due hourly.. More than Half of those are already sold.. Or Complete junk cars.. I drove miles to look at a $2500 celica only to find out it has rust and a CEL.. lol I don't need a celica that bad..

But I'm on my way to a stealership to look at a celica.. Hopefully my butt doesn't get rapped.. Wish me luck..lol

So true.. That is why i'm taking the harder path. It almost feels like alot of people love there celicas and don't wanna sell them.. The only ones for sale are the ones that need work and gave up on. Kinda frustrating but i'm determend.. Just complaining alot along the way.. =D

@floordauto
It seems that the cars worth getting are always the hardest ones to find, one will show up eventually.

The best part of owning a celica is making it your own, the best thing to do is find one that needs work because 9/10 you will get a deal on it, they are very simple to work on, and you dont need to look like everyone else in the world with a civic or a accord, its kinda like women, do you really wanna settle with a female thats been around the block a couple times or do you wanna wait it out until to find the right one that you can bring home to momma? The choice is yours.

I have no problems with them needing work.. But CEL and rust with a price tag of 2500 is not the work i want.. And if the car is 131 miles away. It has to bring me home..lol There is no car close to me that i want so i have to drive for it.

and my civic was def a civic.. but not cookie cutter.. so the celica will be the same.. believe me =D

@floordauto
Good job on tastefully modifying your Civic, I'll sure you'll do great with a Celica then. biggrin.gif

As long as it's rust free and only minor cosmetic or mechanical problems you should be ok. On OBDI models you can check any codes in just a few minutes, so that's something else to check if it's clean but has a CEL. Here's how: http://www.6gc.net/howto/determine_check_engine_light_codes

Thanks box.. Still nothing final on the one i'm looking at on tues.. might have another lined up but still looking.

@floordauto
If you really want one, expand your search to nationwide, try cars.com

When I bought mine years ago, I had narrowed it down to 4 cars across the country. Ended up flying from Kansas City to Boise Idaho via Phoenix. Guy in Phoenix wouldn't answer his phone when we got there, only had a couple hour layover window so went on to Boise and bought that one. I flew back early next AM to get to work and my wife drove the car back from Boise to KC. (That got her hooked, she now has her own 97 Celica.)

Good luck in your search, A couple hundred for an airline/train or bus ticket to get a car you want may be less in the long run than buying one you will have to change/fix etc.
Well that white one i looked out turned out to be a junk **** box.. He said nothing is wrong but the radio missing. Well drove 130 miles to see a Check Engine light for cat and o2 sensors, bad wheel bearings, shocks, engine monts, interior is trashed and missing parts and i bet i woulda found more things.. ohh yeah can't forget a nasty 3rd gear grind.. so much for nothing wrong.. #findingAcelicaMissionImpossible...

still looking...

@floordauto
Third gear grinding on downshifting is a common issue, just for future reference. Hmm, I don't know why it's being so hard to find one that isn't a basket case. Then again when I had mine up for sale most people were interested in mine since it was in such good condition, sadly for them they waited until I had changed my mind again. tongue.gif

3rd gear grind was in up shifting.. this car was complete crap.. i understand i wont find brand new.. but dont say nothing wrong and have a god damn cel and other **** that anyone can see and hear and ask blue book value for good condition.. straight b...s... i told him ill give ya 300 and he says a junk yard will give me that.. well that might be a hint you got junk yard ****.. unbelievable..

@floordauto
Oh I hear you on that. I was just saying it's something that most will suffer from, depending on the severity sometimes SynchroMesh will get it to stop. I believe in being upfront with everything in the ad, that way when someone does come to see it odds are they'll buy it. Sadly most people aren't that way.

2001 Miata LS 5-speed
Yea thanks for the heads up on known issue.. If it had a grind i would def over look it.. I was going to over look the CEL but the test drive i only got down one block and drove back asap.. car was pulling right side aswell..

@floordauto
Just have to wait until the right one shows up. E.g. baby on the way, medical reasons, don't want to drive a manual anymore, or some other legitimate reason for selling a perfectly fine car. Can't believe it's being this hard, when ones do show up near me they're usually halfway decent and no worse than any other car of the same year out there for sale.

2001 Miata LS 5-speed
I have never had problem finding a 6th gen, then again i never expect a new car, my most recent one has 278xxx on the clock and was beyond clean, manual, not a spec of rust, just needed front struts and a starter and bought her for $450, Youll find a decent one when you least expect it or when you buying something else that isnt a celica. Happens all the time, just dont give up yet
