3SGTE Building - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #90755 16 posts Started by DST94
I know that most people will just say "Search Function" or something like that. But I am looking to find someone who can help plan a crazy 3SGTE build that isnt going to frown upon the idea. Is there anyone out there that I can conduct business with over email or phone to build a. . . Im going to regret posting this. . . 600+ Horsepower Twin Turbo 3SGTE. I have been doing my own research but there HAS to be someone here that knows the 3SGTE better than me. Im looking for a real life person so that i can share my research and ask specific questions. anyone out there? Im down in SoCal so local help would be pretty cool too. Just let me know because I do not know everything and Im looking for some 3SGTE Gearheads to help me successfully plan this build.

Ill be the pessimist here and just say that you should try the GT4OC or perhaps the MR2OC. Before anyone even dares say it though, yes there has been a twincharged 3S so its feasible, with in no part to lots of money.

Although a twin turbo setup might not be the best way to go about it...

If you wanted to try here in the states, there is Tweak and a guy on MR2OC that knows alot about the 3S engine series in general..

I know one in person... From Italy. And few others from chat in UK. So all only from the old contitnent. Sorry.

Thanks for the replies. Ill try all suggestions.

where in CA are you? i can build the engine and the turbo system to support it

building a 600whp 3sgte is really not a big deal, or somthing thats overly hard to do, and can be done with off the shelf parts.

may i ask why your wanting a twin turbo setup, on a motor thats designed and works best with a single?

a properly built motor, 2000cc id injectors, 264 or 272 cams and adjustable gears, intake and exhaust manifolds, a precision 6262 turbo, and a properly tuned ems will get you to 600whp pretty easily without much hassle.
check out some of the build threads over on mr2oc, there are quite a few guys who've built 600+whp setups that are very easily replicatable.

Agree ! I am currently doing a setup exactly like the one you mentioned but have 1000cc injectors, all you need is the cash and it can be done real easily.

Cant wait to finish it I am aiming for 700whp and the only thing that might hold me back is thhe turbo .

The reasoning behind the build was to introduce a pair of turbos that would continually boost throughout the power curve. I understand that the 3SGTE runs really well with a single turbo but I thought that if I could lighten the rotating mass, forge the pistons, open the throttle body and intake manifold along with the exhaust, then the RPM range would increase and I could do an EMS tune with two turbos (a Low and High range) to eliminate boost lag as much as possible. If I am way off on my thought process then please show me where I am mistaken, of course this is all on paper right now and primarily why I am asking these questions. But in a nut shell I thought
1) increase safe RPM range
2) design a twin system to have continual boost over entire range
3) Produce a car that performs well in cornering with AWD and low to no boost lag.

that was the BASIC thought process.

Hi,

feel free to drop me any question i'am glad to help

the maximum rpm depends on the stroke and the safe maximum on 86mm is 8000rpm at ~23m/sec
but personal, the 3S has not enough cc to run a twin turbo setup and isn't professional built able, i would consinder
anti lag for lower touque and water injection for high rpm tourque, a EFR 7670 twin entry would be my choice of turbo

depending on the type of 3S engine you use you have the option for a higher flowing oil pump and water pump

greetz

KEEP COOL UNDER PRESSURE
there isnt much room for a twin setup, i think you should abandon that idea, you will need something like a GT40 to get the HP you want, to help with spool, use something like a 75 shot of nitrous on a window switch so when you reach a desired boost, the nitrous cuts off

Much obliged!

So would a better option be to use a 5S block and stroke it to gain more RPM or should I use my 98 3SGTE (its after Toyota did the block reinforcement) and modify that?

Also anyone got a way to pick up just a crankcase for the 3RD gen? I need a new one and do not wanna buy another damn motor just to get it.
Thanks all.

Ats racing offers a 2.3 liter 5sgte(5s block 3s head). Drop a few grand and they'll build you one. This would be a great build for high horsepower. If you got the money, you can make the power smile.gif

you have got your information backwards. its stroke the 3S block by using a 5S crank, and its the 5S 98 blocks that are stronger. and unless you plan on making 700000 HP you dont need it.

Id rather tackle as much of the project with my own hands. Otherwise that would be a viable option.
