Need help with my radio wiring - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #90508 9 posts Started by mkernz22
So I installed the 8 speaker system in my car, literally took it out of the parts car and put it in mine.
It worked completely fine in the parts car, but as soon as I put it in mine, I got an RPM whine in the speakers.
I wired my head unit into the system, then put the old one back in to see if the whine would go away; it didn't.
Then I tried to add another ground off the existing ground wires. That didn't change a thing either.
Lastly, I grounded the two stock amps to the battery and there is still a whine in the speakers.

Can anyone help me out here?

If I can't figure it out, I'm just going to run the front and rear speakers off the speaker level outputs, bypassing the main amp.
Then wiring the secondary amp, for the subs, into the RCA sub outputs and etc in hopes of that working. But that is last resort.
Thanks.
....can anyone help me at all?
Ground loop isolators for the RCAs. You need two.

You're welcome. =)
The amp is most likely messed up, think its grounded internally. Going to create a bypass for it so that I can still run the subwoofer amp.
ill make a write up about it tomorrow
i tossed the oem amps.. just saying.

I don't have the money for aftermarket stuff so I gotta use what I have.
Actually, I get an RPM whine when I have my phone plugged into the cigarette lighter charger. I wonder if there's a workaround for that as well.
are you getting the signal to the amps from the RCA or the speaker wiring from cd player.

these amps need the signal from rca outputs, i have the cable to do that. got it free from crutchfield.

I have all of that, the main amp grounded out internally. Tried everything I could, but nothing got rid of the RPM whine or the popping when I tap the brakes.
I even cut the ground wire to it and it stayed on...

I was trying to bypass the main amp and just use the subwoofer amp, but it doesn't seem like that's going to work.
I'm just going to buy a cheap $25 or $30 100w-200w amp and wire that in instead.
