Installing Braided Brake Lines - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #89852 12 posts Started by Mo_tron
Hi Guys,

I'm about to order a full set of Goodridge Braided Brake Lines, but am unsure exactly which kit I need. Unfortunately neither does my supplier (due to twin pot fronts I think).

I have a 98 SSII, and this isn't in the database. However they have sent me a diagram. When I find out how to upload it I will.
Goodridge Part Number is TY0127-4
I will do my best to compare this to the lines in the car, however if anyone has used these before and can confirm this is the right kit that would be awesome.

Thanks in advance smile.gif

try asking for 98 SS-III ST202 superstrut lines, as I've found out the SS-II BEAMS twin pot brakes and SS-III Superstrut twin pot brakes, the lines are the same.

the lines themselves should be slightly longer and have a different nut fitting

Awesome thanks Rusty.

Will update with how it goes biggrin.gif

try MRP

or maybe GT4 ones, would depend on the fittings?

Ripped a couple of wheels off yesterday to check.
Lucky I did, fronts are about 100mm longer than the drawing they sent and the back are 50mm longer so maybe they were for drums?

How do I know if the fittings are any different? The brackets etc all look the same, but the bolts etc could be different.
To front and back to caliper bolts are 14mm and other end is 10mm.

Looks like a custom kit may have to made at this stage, so much for an easy upgrade rolleyes.gif

here we have a quick mock up with the 'twin pots caliper' and my old 'single pot brakeline'
the main reasons for not fitting are
the brake line length, guesstimation 20mm-30mm maybe more
the locking tab on the line is in a different place

and from my SS-II thread, testing it with the single pot brakeline, didn't appear to have rubbing issues.

distance from the strut mount to the caliper mount is a bit longer.
the single pot is on a slight angle and sits out, the twins are flat and sit closer.

I myself am thinking of getting intouch with MRP for some front brakelines. just need twinpot lines for measurements, and I'm sure he'll sort the rest out.

Think I have my custom kit sorted now, one final check tonight before they are ordered. Fingers crossed.

Have you got SSII/III twin pots?
If you haven't done anything with your brakelines when mine turn up I can send you some images/dimensions if you want.

Thanks for your help smile.gif

sweet hope it works out. Be careful with the nut on those lines as it might round off

yes have got a set of twin pots, where abouts are you getting your lines done?

Getting them made by Goodridge, buying them through Racetech.

Must say Racetech have been very good so far in helping and replying to emails quickly, would definitely recommend them

I was wondering does anyone know if the goodridge lines will work for a gt non superstrut usmd
Email them and ask for the drawing of Part No. TY0127-4
This is for a 1994 ST202 Celica 2.0 GT

Sounds like this is the one you want but I would compare the drawing to the lines in your car just in case.

Hope this helps
