I've been scouring the net using google, toyotanation and 6gc.net. My 5sfe is currently idling at 1200-1400 rpms and i can't seem to lower it by any means.
So far i have.......
- Cleaned the Throttle body and intake manifold the best i could
- Cleaned the IACV + tried adjusting the plate at the bottom both ways - Idle soars to 2000 then pulsates then adjusted back.
- Replaced the majority of vacuum lines
- Checked the MAP, IACV, FPR
- Checked and adjusted the TPS

The lowest rpm i have managed to obtain has been 1100 and know the stock is around 800.
Anyone have any ideas?

Off topic but might be revelant, i also changed Cap + Rotor, Spark Plugs (NGK double platinums) and Harmonic Balancer (The crank pulley i removed looks nothing like the new one??? Much larger and heavier in comparision.) 2 New belts as well.

Mine useto idle at 1100 rpm when I had a bad speed sensor in the cluster. Once I replaced it. It went back to normal at 750rpm. Does your cruise control and speedometer work?

Speedo works great, i cross checked it awhile back with a GPS unit so its fairly accurate and the cruise works too, used it a few days ago on my way to work.
Car is currently idling at ~1200, it did drop rpms when i covered the IACV hole in the TB though. Is that a sign of a bad unit?

Mine would idle at 1100 when my thermostat was bad. Its an easy change and its always good to make sure its in proper condition after a while anyways.

I took it apart one last time, cleaned it thoroughly again. Reinstalled everything and started it up, it ran high to 2000, then settled to 1200. i sprayed some carb cleaner with my thumb over the IACV hole and saw it seeping in through the throttle body i thought was closed fully. So i backed out the idle screw and now is idles around 900 and sticks a little bit.

Much better than before but now the car jerks significantly more when the gas is pressed + released while driving. Isn't quite as smooth as it used to be.

Problem was not fixed only covered up by a lower idle so i returned the idle back to where it was. (would still pulsate and idle high.) At the time i was also checking the ignition timing and i believe it was somewhere around 17* BTDC and once i returned it to the stock 10* BTDC the idle returned to normal. How the ignition timing got that way ill never know but at least its working a little better. I'm still thinking my IACV is shot so im going to pull one from the boneyard.

Did you get it fixed? I was trying to clean my EGR valve and Modulator today couldn't get EGR off then i put everything back. Turned her on and started idling 1000-1100.

I replaced my thermostat, did an entire coolant system flush with fresh coolant, replaced TPS and adjusted, replaced sensor for IACV and adjusted the bottom plate. Everything works much better and it idles around 800 rpm now.
Still need to check and adjust ignition timing cause the car is really sluggish compared to what it used to be. I think the timing might be retarded due to some issues with my timing light.
