Anyone Scrape Their OEM Sideskirts? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #8927 15 posts Started by Coomer
I'm thinking about getting OEM sideskirts for my car sometime, and I was curious as to whether or not those of you with OEM sideskirts ever scrape them when driving? Also, if you could include how much lower your car is than stock, that'd be awesome. >smile.gif> Thanks!

They drop down maybe an inch and a half. It's not that much lower (probably more like an inch) but they make the car look hella wider. The only thing is, the front bumper doesn't really line up well. I think it looks hella sweet myself. I snapped that pic out my front door. it was raining, and... it looks nice wet.

and I havn't hit anything yet on Alabama roads,so I don't think you will have a problem.
it's always looks nice wet >biggrin.gif>
but i have a question
how are they held up?

I have mine dropped about 1.25"-1.5". I'm still on stockers and I don't scrap at all. Thought I would going up my driveway, but had enough clearance. That's with NO snow mind you, but when we get a good 5"+ in my sub it get's the undercarriage and the skirts sometimes. Also, when the snow plow comes down our street and there's that "foot" of snow at the end of your driveway that's when they scrape. >frown.gif>

You should be okay Coomer, just be cautious when driving over bumps and what not.
I drive on some pretty bumpy roads with stock 14" rubber and no lowering (everything's stock right now), no scraping at all, no where close.

Shouldn't you be worry about something else though? (ahem--engine?) >wink.gif>

eibach sportsline...some places say 1.5" other say 2"

anyways, i live in PA, ****tiest roads ever, and i have scraped a total of about 4-5 times but only 2 were bad...but not bad enough to crack them or anything
Cool! Thanks for the replies guys. I'm always really careful when driving the car into driveways and over speedbumps and stuff, so I think I'll be fine if I get the OEM sideskirts. >smile.gif>

Hey Coomer, if you're going to need any part numbers I have ALL of them if you need them. I have the order reciept with the cost of each part. MSRP price and the "discounted" price at which I purchased them with through Toyota.

But I'm sure if you do a find they're in the database somewhere. >smile.gif>

I've never scraped mine..and my state (SC) was rated as one of the top 3 states with the ****tiest roads. This being on stock everything.....and I never scraped with my old car with 17's on low pro's.
oh yea, those scraped are over 3 years, and are not recent at all...

i was forced to scrape them merging onto a higher-speed road twice with a bad curb(drop-off style)
and another time i had just lowered car, and a massive speed bump stopped me. and LASTLY i have no clue what happened, but somehow i think either a banked edge of the road, or a log or something, swiped the lower side of it and went up???
i have oem skirts and sportlines. no problems with the skirts yet.

when i was on 14" and dropped about 3.5" i never had a problem just as long as i was careful

With my 18"s with 35s Tires, and on Coilover's (close to lowest), I smack them on any bumps that make my car bounce.
