very good question!!

i like the look of them shiny show cars with all the shiny parts under the hood...

under the hood of my celica there way to much dirt and black sticky stuff...

on a verry active day i tryed removing some of that black stuff from my engine after cleaning the car but it wouldn't come of with water and soap so i quit...

so i'm also wondering how to clean it up
what is aluminum jelly? and where do i get it?

this is what it says on the bottle
"Duro" i guess they make it.
"Aluminum Jelly""corrosion remover, clean & brightens Aluminum.

Steam clean away. Cant hurt anything. Also Simple Green works well and Gunk engine cleaner. After your done you can polish things up with some tire shine.

get soem of the orange GUNK cleaner at the parts store. Its like 3 bucks I think but make sure your engine is COOL!

Guys just go to the store and get some engine degreeser. Cover any electrical things like your alarm with a bag and a rubber band. Drive the car so the engine is hot, that's when the stuff works best. Then spray the whole bottle all over under your hood. After you have used up the entire bottle jose off the stuff and you wont be dissappointed. It works great.

P.S. I wouldn't be too picky or afraid of getting some electrical parts wet because if they do get get wet, your car will act funny for one day or until the parts dry and then your car will act fine after that. Trust me I know it sound wronge but I'm telling you from experience, I do this throughout the year.
If you really wanna shine up your engine, get the "Mother's Aluminum Polish" , you just gotta do a lot of rubbing. It will almost shine it so it looks chrome kinda polished aluminum look.

Don't just spray your engine with a hose, then your car will run like its on 1 cylinder for like an hour. Steam cleaning it works really good!

Have you got sound proof wadding under your hood?
My engine's fine, could be cleaner but every time I lift
the hood theres that dirty black sound proofing staring
back at me. Any recommendations on cleaning it without
harming the sound and water proofing qualities of the
wadding? Any product recommendations welcome!
you can get your engine detailed for around $50... looks really good!

other wise THUNDER BLAST works really good... its a dollar store generic but it will cut threw anything!!

Fast orange works good too

99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =)
THe GUNK stuff works but it says on the bottle dont do when it is hot.....plus its tru if you want it really clean you need to do some hard polishing.....not gogin to be easy!

Yo man...If you want your wires to look wet and not too dry...use some silicon spray. >biggrin.gif> as for the rest....DeGreaser would work best. >biggrin.gif>
