First I didn't know if this post should be in exterior styling forum or this one. So sorry to the mods if I chose the wrong one. Lol. Anyways. Rumors online is that the OHTSU FP7000 is suppose to replace the discontinued 512s? If so has anyone had any experience with them? How well do they handle for tire stretching and long is the tread wear? The OHTSU FP7000 is stupid cheap too so that's a reason why I want them because they're being stretched. Any suggestions? What brand would you recommend for tire stretching? What I have listed is what's been told to me that handles stretching well.

BTW I found a set of 4 205/40/17 OHTSU FP7000 for only $248 plus shipping which would cost me $287.08 only. Stupid cheap to me but don't know if they're ok or good?

I've heard of Falken, never have heard of the other two though. Maybe some others have knowledge of the other brands.

Nankang are good as far as I've heard. I'm stretching some Yokohama when I get the cash

Yea. Like I stated above the fp7000 is suppose to be the direct replacement for the discontinued falken 512s that a lot of street tuners use for stretching their tires. I hope they're good. I'm thinking about getting a set. Since it's only 300 for four 205/40/17.

How wide is your wheel? Unless you're running 9" a 205 wont stretch at all... 205 barely stretches on a 9 at that!

I'm running a 175/50/16 for my next setup on an 8" wide rim with a 0 offset.

I'm running a 225/40 on my 9" and that has a fair bit of stretch.. A 205 would be pretty big. I'm putting 205 on my 8's next time.

I was going to get the falkens, but they were double the price of the nankang, so I got them.

Mine is 8j. Going to run 205/40 because it gives a good stretch but not too much. If I wanted to get a better stretch I was going to go with 195/45 but that was a bit too much. Lol. I'm really interested in the fp7000. I doubt anyone of us on 6gc has tried them before. I guess I'll be the guinea pig maybe. Lol.

Ok. I'm actually going with the nankang ns1 since they're about the same price but looks sportier with the directional treads. Well post up pics once installed!

I have Falken Ziex Ze-512s in the stock 15'' size. I cant really complain about it. Set me back $90 a piece and $120 a piece with balance and all the other crap fees.

I can't find the 512s for my 17x8 at all. They've been discontinued and replaced by the fp7000. At least that's what the rumors were.

falkens are known for stretch. here at my place they use nankangs alot cus their cheap and people think they are really good just because they ranked decent in one of those tire brand drift competititions.

Nankangs are great.....for the price, which is unbelieveably cheap but.....i would not buy them again , had them on my 944 and the griplevel was way below the car's capabilities, if you're not that sporty driver then i would definitly say yes, if you like sharp handling and cornering i would say; spend a bit more ,go for a compromise, brands like Falken, Hancook and Toyo offer great handlings and the price level is in between Nankang and the top-tyres; Bridgestone,Michelin......

Do you think 205's would stretch at all with 7 inch wide wheels? I'm hoping they won't be too much. I'll going to be running 205/50/16 on my GT4 wheels because they don't make the tires in 215/50/16. I could do a 45 sidewall, but that'd throw my mph off too much.

Nevermind, answered my own question.

There are 25.4 millimeters in an inch so you take the width, 205mm, then divide that by 25.4, and get 8.08. That rounded too.

Basically you just take the width of the tire, divide by 25.4, and you get the width in inches. (just for all of you who didn't know)

I'm running 205/50/16 Falken 912s on 16x6.5 rims. There's easily room for them to fit on 7 width. They actually look somewhat rounded on the 6.5 width. My friend has 205s on his 17x7 rims. They're continentals, but regardless it works. BTW, the 912s are actually really good tires for the price. They're sticky and very controllable for all season tires. They seem to be wearing very well too. They're really quiet. Even when you break them loose it takes a hard slide to get them to squeal... which can be nice. They draw less attention. They look good too. They're sporty looking for all season. They run pretty good in the wet too. Phenomenal wet grip compared to my Toyo proxies.

So I just got my 205/40/17 Nankang NS1 installed onto my 17x8 RPF1 and it looks nice but the road noise. It's not the best but it's tolerable. Once you hit around 20mph. You start hearing the noise. It's loud enough to notice it but if you have a loud exhaust. You won't hear it. Lol.

BTW! If you live in the Cen Cali area. I recommend avoiding Superior Tires and Suspensions. I got my tires mounts and balanced there for $27.85 after tax. That's cheap for all four....the downside is that you get what you paid for. I found some fresh chips in the inside of the rim and a couple behind the rim lip.....I'd recommend this place for just getting cheap stuff done like your moms camry with the stock steelies but if you have some rims you love....go somewhere else.
