hey everyone, quick question
will it effect my ride at all if i have 2 different size tires on my rims?
i have 2 - 215/35/18s
and 2 - 225/40/18s
i was planning on running the 225/ 40s in the front
and the 215/35s in the rear...
can anyone think of anything that would go wrong from this as long as i keep the pairs matching like 2 in the front and
2 in the rear? thanks guys

Right now they're not of the same diameter.
if you're doing 215/35, then you need to either get 215/35, or 195/40, or 235/30.
if you're doing 225/40, you need either 225/40, 205/45 or 245/35.

If you don't have AWD, having different tire sizes between front and back shouldn't affect you as long as you're going in a straight line. One axle simply has to spin faster than the other to make up the difference in distance covered per rotation.
However, you'll notice it in the handling.
The 215/35 are 23.92 inches in diametre, close enough to stock to work. A 225/40 is 25.08 inches in diametre, well outside of what should be used to maintain speedometre accuracy and handling characteristics as designed.
if what your aiming for is oversteer, i'd stick to the same size all round, buy 2 sports compound tyres for the front and 2 plastic tyres for the rear

i just want to know why shouldn't i run it?
as long as the sizes match on the axles i don't see any ill effects happening?

putting those smaller ones at the back is dangerous, putting them at the front will make the car handle like ****.
thats the ill effects, but do whatever, its your car and your life.

i've driven my eclipse with different sized tires like this and didn't notice a difference at all...

not sure of the FF part. but drifting is okay . its alot more fun/easier in a rear wheel drive like my camaro rather then my celica. but i like drifiting. in the winter. i feel like this is going to be something just to make fun of me but go ahead and continue.

If you are using it for DDing, then I don't see the big deal. Just use the same two in the front and the same two in the back.
FF is front engine, front wheel drive. Delusionz is saying that putting the smaller tires on the rear will cause lots of unexpected oversteer.
