Polyurethane Engine mounts. - 6G Celicas Forums

Hey everyone,

first of I have done a little research on where to get some and such, but I just want more solid info on getting some.

I have a 3S-GTE (3rd gen) with an E-153 LSD transmission. so what I need are ST205 mounts. now the only ones I have found so far are just the front and rear inserts. I've seen some that look like they are molded to fit the inside of the mount and wrap the existing rubber in the mount, some that are just solid inserts and one set that look like the replace the inside of the mount entirely.

so a few questions,

are there side poly mounts?

from experience, what are the best style of mounts?

where do you suggest buying them?

I have never seen any poly side mounts.

The best style mount really depends on how stiff you want the engine to be

No need for poly sidemounts since the engine is only moving back and forwards.

Tigawoods, how do those go on the car exactly? do you have to cut the rubber out of the original mounts then press those in? that was the thing that most confused me about those poly mounts.

For the engine mounts you would have to cut out the rubber. Then take the same saw you used to cut the rubber and then cut a little slit out of the metal ring inside the mount, and knock it out or pry it out with a flathead.

There are 2 mounts available for the ST205

both can be installed with a bench press. The lower one probably wont really need one. Simple as that

i dropped all 4 of mine off at a suspension shop where they copied the mould of the old rubber, then poured in polyurethane to match

is there not a shop in the US which does this?

it was worth doing all 4 while the motor was out as the vibrations of the engine with front and rear poly mounts will quickly tear the rest

That could be done, but I cant imagine many places would offer this. I would look for manufacturing companies that work with Poly-Urethane for industrial based purposes, usually they are nice enough people to do quick side jobs like that. You'd have better luck finding a company like that, than an actual automotive company that does that kind of work. In the US that is
