what does the letter and number on cambelt cover mean? - 6G Celicas Forums

Hi guys,

quick question i have seen afew 3sge and on the cambelt covers theres a letter and number like this (S1 / w5)




Anyone know what it stands for / what it means?

i have no idea, ill guess lot assembled.

2001 Celica GT-S Turbo1997 Supra TT 6speed1997 Celica 3MZ/1MZ swap1990 Celica All-Trac
Cant quite remember what the letters where, either what model car they were found in, or year they where made.

the numbers
Manual are 1, 3 and 5
Auto's are 2, 4 and 6
same case with the BEAMS engines

It is the manufacturing plant that your engine was built in. Mine is an A1 which was a series 1 wrc 3sgte out of the Tahara Plant if I remember correctly. Think I found the info on a quick google search.

probably not as important with the 3S-GTE, but more so with the 3rd Gen 3S-GE counterpart, where you have manual and auto versions and internal parts of the engine are different

I think mine out of a '91 usdm mr2 turbo 5spd is X7..?
