e-153 Shifting really hard - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #87579 7 posts Started by Soulend
So I bought a E-153 and finally put it in my car this weekend (it was not fun at all) and when everything is all said and done, I try to shift the damned thing and it doesn't feel like it is completely disengaging. I've adjusted the peddle and bled the clutch a bunch of times, I have no air, but it still shifts really rough. I have to shut the car off just to get it in reverse half the time.

any trouble shooting Idea's?

id go with the clutch first. it sounds like its not fully dis engaging

okay... where should I look?
did you replace your clutch master? the clutch master would need to be primed and might have some air pockets still in there.

it was about a year ago, but it was "primed" not bench primed but still primed...

do you think because I switched to an e153, I would need a new master cylinder? like one for the MR2 or something along those lines?

a friend who has the same set up (and has been helping me a lot) told me he uses a GT master. so I am going to replace it tonight.
