What is the difference between getting one that says it's for an automatic, and getting one that is for a standard transmission? They both look exactly the same. My car is standard, but they have cheaper ones out there for automatic, would it hurt if I just got the automatic one?

They are probably a different idle. MT idles higher, AT idles lower because the torque converter puts a load on the engine

Well then I'm going to get one for an automatic, install it and then I'll let you know if it was ok. What's the worse that could happen, I send it back?
You should try taking apart the one you have and cleaning it with carb cleaner. 99% of the time they just need to be cleaned to function correctly again. Also, make sure you pick up a new gasket as the old one is not made to be reused.
