AWD V6? - 6G Celicas Forums

Gouky on mr2oc pioneered the 2gr swap in the SW20 and after talking to him, he mentioned that his car was around 100lbs lighter than stock after the 2gr swap.

After riding in that car, I'm not sure that a FWD 2gr powered car (w/o traction control) is a good idea. I just can't imagine the restraint that is needed to keep from roasting the two (or one) front tires off the rims.

I have both an e153 and several e154f trannys laying around... I may have to start mocking up to get an idea of clearances..... hmmmm

Or you could donate the e154 to me and someone can donate a 2gr to me as well and I can let you all know how it goes biggrin.gif

>dont know about upgrade, unless forced induction. its got about the same power and torque but weighs twice as much

we already got about 3200lbs dont need any more lol

1mz an 2gr are both lighter than a 3sgte
The 3s block is heavier an to mention all the turbo parts
Plus there's no turbo lag

You could say it's a win win.

The E154 is probably too close a gearbox for a v6 or supercharged v6. With all that torque youd want wider gears

Exactly.

On that other note.... No.

I will bolt up my 2gr to my e154 and take pictures/notes. smile.gif

It will just have to wait until the 22nd when I can get back up to my barn.

I was going to wait and try to surprise the board with a 2gr FWD 6g, just to prove fitment, which I may still do... But seeing as how I have all this extra alltrac stuff lying around, I may just go the full monty. I haven't decided yet.

You sir will be a god if you alltrac a 2gr.
why are you talking about the E154, get the same E153 that comes in the 5 speed camry or solara and go. use the ST205 engine mount and you are golden.

Because the title of the topic is AWD V6. The epicness of AWD + V6 + TRD Supercharger is so much youd go blind if you ever saw one.

I have one of those too... Like I said, I may still do a FWD 2GR just to prove fitment, but I'm going to be spending TONS of money on front tires....

I'm considering skipping all that and going directly to 4WD.

you guys crack me up sometimes. ok im not going to say its impossible because anything is with enough money. but for a simple bolt in there is no way you are going to get a V6 and an AWD tranny to fit back there. there is no room for the rear header. just like Kurt already explained. the V6 sits rocked way back so the rear bank is really low. the header has very little room because the steering column is right in the way. the way the 3S-GTE gets away with it is because the intake manifold is back there and it wraps around the high way so nothing is in the way of the transfer case. then you come to the issue of the block mating to the trans. you need to do a lot of machine work to the block to get it to clear the transfer case.

That's why I've said the rav4 Awd trans will work its been done
If it'll work on a 1mz it should work on a 2gr
Only down side is you'll need custom front axles
The final drive is the same do the st205 rear diff still work

It had a smaller transfer case I beleave due to space issues on the rav4
