My condolences. I've never really had a pet, unless you count that pet rock I had one time. Rocky was too high maintenance, so he had to go back to the wild.

Jesus. The **** dogs get themselves into. I wish I had someone to fork over money when I did stupid stuff to injure myself lol.

Personally, I think the wheels look like cheap aftermarket ones that all the inner city "ricer" boys put on their cars around here. Black and machined are too tacky in my book.. on any car.

Suppose this thread deserves an update.

My tuner had a 6 hour come-to-jesus chat at SEMA with the guys at ECUTek regarding firmware mismatches and incompatibility with their software and ECUs - in particular mine. After some forced hands ECUTek agreed to bench my ECU, repair it, and load the proper firmware to match the ECU's version.

Sad part - they are based in Europe. frown.gif

So my car is down at Drift Office without an ECU for the next few weeks. While it is just sitting around they are going to do a complete inspection of my turbo kit to make sure everything is all good there.

I have heard that a Motec M1 will be showing up at the shop soon and might end up in my car to see if it runs fine with that installed rather than the stock ECU... If it does I don't know what I'll do. Really don't have $3500 kicking around to buy another Standalone EMS...

So for now I am back to Daily Driving the MR2. I'll take some pictures of it this week of my winterizing process, as my MR2 thread deserves a bump.

We'll that sucks completely. Pay for a turbo for it to be garaged because of morons. Sorry to hear this. I am in the midst of getting ride of mine and wait for a less troubled version some years down the road.

Learned a lot in 10 years...I hardly log in anymore, last loginToday Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOLIf you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. Im alive, better post your questions in the thread below, maybe I log back in2grfe Swapped...Why I chose the 2GR, before you ask read here...A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within.@llamaraxing in Instagram is the best way to find me. I hardly log here anymore.
Almost a 5 month hiatus from this thread. Suppose I should do some updating.

Got the ECU restored to factory, but the dealer wouldn't perform the recall work because of the turbo kit frown.gif Super long story short: I had to revert the car completely back to stock for the dealer to perform the recall on the ECU and replace a faulty oil control valve assembly.

After that was done I had no more CELs. I put ~4K miles on the car in bone stock form, and then she went back under the knife. Just got her back last night, so pictures and videos will follow. I did steal a set of OZ wheels from my brother as you can see in the picture below, so not AS bad as stock... and wider tires.

Installed over the weekend:

Turbo kit (again) (this guy)
AVO Ceramic clutch (this guy)
3" catless turboback exhaust (this thing, minus the cat bolted to this deal here).

I am waiting for the copy of the dyno chart, but it made 297whp and 235tq @ 8PSI (I think boost crept to 9).

Hmm... I'm awful at keeping this thread up to date...

So I tossed on some Rota Torques as a temporary wheel solution while mine are being shipped. Decided I'd try a set of GTF2 from 720Form. 18x9 +35 with 255/35 Nitto NT555. Slightly less aggressive than the Rotas.

My new tires should be here on Monday, no idea when the wheels will be here. Not an issue for now - I'm just about to finish closing on a house here in the next week or so, and the house will take a lot of my time/attention/money.

Anyways I woke up this morning to FedEx dropping off moar car parts.

GrimmSpeed selected my FRS to be in their booth at the Big NW Subaru Meet on Aug 10th at Portland International Raceway, so they sent me a care pack full of stuff on the free.

Strut brace
Master Cylinder brace
Pulley cover
Hood struts
Manual Boost Controller
Battery tie down
Oil cap

So I've been installing stuff today. Yay.

Still find it exciting I suppose? I know of a lot of people that have already sold theirs, then again I don't think they bothered with touching the drive-train.

It's exciting every day. I enjoy making it spit fireballs as I pass unsuspecting drivers. Puts a smile on my face every time.

That's good then. So have you done any kind of track day events with it yet?

2001 Miata LS 5-speed
Not yet. It's on my list of things to do, but they've pretty much all been on weekdays when I'm at work and can't get the time off.

One of these days my schedule and a track day will align, and much celebration will be had.

Whale Whale Whale... what do we have here. 720Form GTF2 18x9.0 +35

How about a bit of an unboxing?

Here are the caps and valve stems that are included.

However I elected to replace them with these black valve stems.

All put together.

Indeed.

Also had them weighed. Roughly 18.5lbs each.

ROTA>FORM, in terms of appearance.

Honestly, I cannot stand the 10-hole universal look. I had XXR 527 on my FRS (fitment test) and the 10-hole bothered me more than anything haha. They were my first set of wheels with 5x100 & 5x114.3.

Otherwise, good looking car!

I disagree. I wish the U-beam spokes weren't machined, but it can always be powdercoated later.
I'm going to wash the car up today and take some more pictures. This one gives a better look at the amount of concave.
